Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind. |

I've already posted my opinions in a different thread; https://www.gothic.net/boards/showth...4&page=1&pp=50,
this is "just about appearance", but well, this _is_ the fashion board.

I just realized that that made no sense at all!! That was an unfinished thought...
Allow me to finish this statement...
"Color family" means that some makeup lines--M.A.C. is one, but there's also Revlon, and Maybelline and other street lines have their selection of colors divided into "warm", "neutral", and "cool" shades.

As far as eyeliner goes, I'd recommend using Revlon liquid eyeliner. It takes a little bit more practice for it to look good, but it's totally worth it. I paint my eyebrows on a la Amanda Palmer, and when I started out I used a stick eyeliner, then moved to liquid. If for some reason I have to use a stick again, I am disgusted I ever used it because it's just so shitty compared to liquid.

The Dresden Dolls Paradise Live DVD has a 'Pre-show' section in it where Christopher Lydon interviews Amanda and Brian. Brian is wearing makeup... not his usual white faced caberet makeup, but some dark eyeshadow and liner, he's also in a great black and grey shirt with a red tie. He looks amazing.
That is the way that a guy should do makeup.

Rimmel makes an eyeliner that is like one of those wind up crayons. Its a lot easier to use than pencil and you don't have to sharpen it. It's great, in fact I'm wearing it now.

Yes please for the love of everything pretty, don't use that evil white paint. If you really feel the need to be pale use a foundation 2 shades lighter that your skin tone. And don't draw squiggles on your face, that only looks good if you have liquid eyeliner and a very steady hand.

Depending on the type of your skin, you might even be able to get away with just using a sheer or lilac tinted powder.
Aside from white grease paint just plain looking stupid, it's REALLY bad for your skin.
