*Screams*

Someone STOLE my credit card number!

WTF.

I shredded my card last week because I just want to pay it off, and when I go to schedule a payment today online, I seen a temporary authorization for purchase at "3GUPPIES INC" for the amount of $13.99...I googled 3 Guppies Inc. and it's some ringtone company--Something I DEFINATELY did not purchase, not to mention, MY CARD HAS BEEN SHREDDED FOR THE LAST MONTH.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

That sucks. Did you cancel the number? Or whatever you do to kill a credit card? Being a 16 year old, I don't have all that much experiance with credit cards.

My sympathies, hopefully you can catch the ass that did it.

I made a bit of a type, I meant to say I shredded my card last month.

Anyway, yes, I did cancel the credit card number. Unfortunately, I cannot put a stop on the account until that transaction is fully processed, and is proven to be fradulent.

Take my advice--If you get a credit card, DO NOT ever make any purchases online. Make sure always to pay off your bill ASAP.

Wow that sucks. They should find a way to secure the internet when it comes to online purchases. A lot more people rely on it nowdays.

Hm, last I heard, with credit cards and online purchases you could only lose $50 tops. With debit, it's another story.

Really? That's a bit reassuring. I had the card number changed, so hopefully no more weird charges will pop up.

I love your icon, by the way.

Knock on wood, but I've used my ATM card and credit cards online for the lest few years with no problems.

WARNING: With ringtones, if you ever enter your cell phone into on of those sites that promises you the result to some quiz (often linked off MySpace), you automatically authorize them to charge your account.

if I get anything online then I use paypal because when you make a transaction through paypal then the seller doesn't get your credit info they have to go through your paypal account so they can't steal your account info.

Yusss, obey the Foxy! With debit, it's tied to bank accounts so you stand to lose quite a bit if you've invested a lot.

Yep I love Paypal, I'm just fed up with all the forms you would have to fill otherwise. Not to mention you can feel safe with it. Then there is the fact that there are soo many places that accept it and soo many payment meathods that work with it.

Yup, I got my monies back! The bank found the charges to be fraudulent, and refunded my money. They also gave me the phone number of the person who did it...I'm debating whether or not I should call this person and say something really nasty.

I still have no idea how they got my card number. Maybe a sales clerk or something at store....*shrugs*

I've never had any problem with my checking account, thus far, thankfully.

I wouldn't say anything nasty, just be firm, and tell them you know what was going on, and possibly threaten them with a lawyer to scare them.

The bank released that information to you? Do they realize how much trouble they can get into for that? They can allow that to be released to the police if you wish to file charges but under NO circumstances should they have allowed you access to that information. They could be in for quite a big lawsuit from the person if it is ever found out. And if you call them they can file charges for harassment so keep that in mind if you do and you say anything harsh.
