Los Angeles

Anyone live in the area / know interesting places worth checking out around here? I'm vacationing in Pasadena for a few weeks, and I'm unfamiliar with the outs and ins (particularly the gothy ones).

My god, it's burning hot here even at one in the morning @_@

You're about two dozen miles away from Los Angeles.

List of goth clubs I found:
Bar Sinister, Hollywood, CA
Perversion, Hollywood, CA
The Darkroom, Hollywood, CA
Club Red Light, Los Angeles, CA
Das Bunker, Los Angeles, CA
Malediction Society, Los Angeles, CA
Nightshift, Los Angeles, CA
Wumpskate, Los Angeles, CA

Other than that? Check out Ventura Blvd and Melrose AVE. I'm not familiar with anything in Pasadena, I live far from there.

Thanks, wormboy. What part of CA are you from? (I'm assuming you're in the state, since you can list street names).

Heh, apparently there was a Steampunk thing going on at Malediction... could have chosen a better day than Father's Day, I'm sure.

Haha I live in Los Angeles county in a small suburb called Encino about 22 miles from Pasadena.

And that's far away, is it? xp
Well, I've yet to see the traffic, having arrived by train and all.

Melrose Avenue in Hollywood was a pretty good place to shop while I was there a few years ago, particularly Necromance and Shrine.

And if you're interested, Rozz Williams' memorial is in the Hollywood Forever cemetery.

Clubwise, save yourself for Release The Bats, Funeral, Wolfpak, Eternal, Nightshift, and Isolation. You'll be glad you did especially with regards to that steampunk thing.

Basically, what Cicero said with the addition of Amoeba Records, The Egyptian Theater, Chinatown and Little Tokyo (it's got quite a fascinating mini-mall).

Read this quickly because it'll be gone at the end of June: http://www.laaftermath.net/Navpage.htm (in regards to clubs to visit and the like)

And this: http://www.socalgoth.com/

I think clubs are out of the question for him since he is only 17. Although are there any all ages clubs for him? Cafes? Gathering spots? Stores?

I keep wanting to live in LA for a year and write about my experiences, but I doubt it will happen. I mean, I have the Peace Corps in about a year and a half...then 27 months of that, then traveling, and hopefully Penn University or Temple...no time, no time.

Unless he's got a faker, he's SOL because it's usually 21+. But those other places should be in the clear to visit regarding his age.

Nah.
He's got no faker that I know about.
Sucks being 17 when you really want to go to a club. =/
Don't worry Clockwork.
I'll look around the web for you since you'll probably be busy most of the day with family and I won't.
Maybe I'll find something for you.

Would you kindly allow me to speak for myself, Miss Cogs? :| When I need a nanny, I'll Google for services.

Anyway, thanks Cicero for your suggestions - I know I'll be stopping by Hollywood at some point, so I'll try and take a look at Melrose Avenue, and definitely at the cemetary.

And Lolly PopMuzik, thank you for those links, they're quite informative. Simply by the fact that I'm staying with family, I was expecting to check out shops and things in the evening more than going clubbing until 4 AM. Although I do have a cousin who might take interest in the nightlife, so I'm keeping options open for us.

You want to write "FUCK MY LIFE!" for a year straight?
