I've loved the movie for over a decade, since I saw it for the first time.

A few years ago, the Drama department at my university put on The Rocky Horror Show (the play upon which the film was based). My friend actually played the role of Frankenfurter, and I swear to God (don't kill me), he'd give Tim Curry a run for his money. It was unbelievable. They even recorded their own soundtrack - not for sale, though. Just as a keepsake for the cast.

Yet to ever see it, but I do know that Richard Long ran around in his underpants as the commentator when it was being showed in New Zealand theaters.

I do, however, enjoy the song "Time-Warp" often, seeing as my sister performed part of it once for a play at school.

I love the movie, but sadly, I am a masturbator. I do want to see a show someday though. I have an issue of the Plain Dealer that I found in a motel room that I've been saving for that day.

"Shock Treatment" was alright, but I don't need to ever see it again. The soundtrack was better than the movie. If Richard O'Brien ever comes out with "Rocky Horror Show His Heels," I'll scramble to watch it, though.

The sad thing is, if Richard ever does come up with a proper sequel, Tim Curry, even if he wanted to reprise his role as Franknfurter, is too far in his years to do it.

I first saw it when I was in 6th grade. A friend got her friend to netflix it and we smuggled it over to watch on my laptop so that our parent's wouldn't find out. Good times, good times. It is still one of my favorite movies ever. Kontan, I didn't know there was a sequal either. Nachtsorcier; you're right. I do believe Tim Curry has passed up the age where it would be appropriate. I thought he was hot when I first saw it. ; P

I read that Tim Curry said he would never in a million years reprise his role as Frankenfurter. I think he was embarressed. I think that he was awesome!

Seen the show twice live, and you have not lived untill you seen it live with a bunch of sweaty, drunk Germans!

I think I read once that Susan Sarandon is equally as embarrassed now. And then of course there's Rocky-guy, whose name is unimportant, and who reportedly wanted to be Hamlet someday and could never get another part after Rocky Horror.

I went to that freaking show every Friday night for almost five years, popped the cherries of many virgins, made many uptight new kids regret their decision to not do the Time Warp...but never saw it with drunk, sweaty Germans. And so I am jealous.

Yeah, they REALLY got into it! I think I spent half the time wrapped up in t.p., too!

What you should see is Phantom of the Paradise. It'll totally change your mind...Rocky's an okay movie. There are a lot of themes I admire. Very obvious ones, like chastity and sexuality. The music's awesome.

Haha! I once took a date who thought it would be really funny to have the entire theatre wrap me in the t.p. They were only too happy to oblige, and I wound up totally covered...had there not been a gorgeous man holding me down, I probably would have been a little upset. =P As it stands, there's a picture floating around somewhere that appears to be of a theatre seat piled high with random t.p. scraps. It is actually a picture of me. Oh, the glory.

Rocky Horrer is the best film I've seen, i first saw it when i was six or seven years old and it probably explaines alot about my brothers twisted fascination with waering corsets O.o

hahaha i still get a kick from watching it again and again. how can anyone not love that movie?

Ugh. I can't stand Rocky Horror.

And don't get me wrong...I'm all about crossdressing and I'm a pretty big theatre and musical snob in my own right, but Rocky Horror fails so hard in my eyes. As a musical, it is inadequate.

Everything else in the film is a surprise-gimmick. Crazy transvestites and wacky costumes, sexual themes and silly dialogue. Nothing I can't find by looking up soft-core pornography on the internet, and I sure as hell don't call that art.

I can respect RHPS for what it introduced and the mainstreaming of its content, but as its own piece, its just awful.

I understand its harmless entertainment. I am just not entertained by it.

No worries...its just differing opinions. As for recommendations, my first, at the top of the list, would have to be Les Miserables. In my opinion, its the top of the top, best musical ever written, as well as (I think) longest running musical in the world, though Phantom of the Opera might have overtaken it.

Reccommendations include:
Les Miserables
Sweeney Todd
Jesus Christ, Superstar
Seussical the Musical
RENT
Little Shop of Horrors
(and even though I'm not a huge fan) Wicked

That should be enough to get ya started.

Yes, but it was INTENTIONALLY created to be "so bad it has to be good." Over-the-top, cheesy, campy, trite, you name it . . . It was written partially as a B-movie spoof, partly a musical spoof, and partly as an experiment in decadence and hilarity.

I'm guessing you've never been to a live show. It's actually not intended to be anything like any of those...at all. They were going for a completely different concept, reaction, and audience than typical musicals.
