This is the best review I have ever read.
http://www.pajiba.com/repo-the-genetic-opera.htm

I am, however, LIVID that the writer mentions Jhonen Vasquez TWICE in connection.

True, it definantly can't top The Rocky Horror Picture Show. In fact, Repo looks like it's trying Way to hard to be a Cult classic.

I still want to see it

If it sucks, it might still be worth a laugh.

Congratulations, you're just like every other rent-a-"goth", except that in a shocking twist you don't like this movie, which you haven't seen because a peripherally eloquent reviewer told you not to before Steampunk Weekly gave it five stars.

I personally can't fucking stand the Rocky Horror Picture show. Repo: The Genetic Opera seems to be a strict improvement on the formula, not only because even thinking about the members of its cast in a movie-- much less a musical-- together is hilarious, but because I'd rather watch a movie targeted at malldwelling pubescents and 90's industrial fans than at fat college girls who wear fishnet stockings in horribly poor taste and 'like feminine men'.

If you can't stand the RHPS, I'm not going to put much stock in your opinion.
Besides, it's by the creators of Saw. I hated those movies, they were gore without plot or acting.

You don't put stock in his opinion because he doesn't like something you like?

I have it on VHS. It's a thousand times more enjoyable than RHPS and R!TGO combined.

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to say I really enjoyed Repo! The Genetic Opera. I plan on buying it on Blu-Ray.

As for Rocky Horror, it doesn't even compare; I'm not even sure why folks like that movie so much. The best thing it has is guys in corsets and fishnets...but after that, it just fails all around as a play OR a movie.

Still, it's got some good music I suppose.

It's really funny and the songs are classic.
And the songs were written and sung by people who knew what they were doing.

It's completely different than the Saw movies, though; the two have nothing in common, other than both contain gore, and even then, Repo! isn't a 24/7 gore fest like the Saw movies...

I agree completely. My only real issue with Rocky Horror is that the plot didn't make much sense and seemed to fall apart in the end.

Seriously, aliens? wtf?

It made a sort of sense.
About as much sense as any other film with aliens.

More on topic: My friend's bringing Repo! over on Friday.
I've wanted to watch it for aaaages.

I liked it. There are some awful bits, but I laughed at them. Like the song "17", so much angst.

Anthony Head is good.
