It's funny because most songs from most popular music genres since the 50's are about drugs, money, and sex.

And they ain't singin', they be rappin'.

Anyway, the only genre I find pretty consistently horrible is crunkcore. brokenCYDE, Jeffree Starr, Family Force Five, Blood on the Dance Floor, they're all so hilariously bad I'm almost convinced crunkcore is just one gigantic practical joke and all these bands were put together by this mysterious, unknown Svengali with 30 lvls in troll.

Agreed, except grindcore, because that's been around a lot longer.

When I was 13 'grindcore' was just called 'underground music'.

< Is olde.

No it wasn't. I live where grindcore began and it's always been grindcore.

I don't hate any genre for the most part and can't think off the top of my head any genre I dislike. However, I will say that it takes a lot for me to get behind a genre as it takes a while for it to resonate with me and sometimes, I can't be assed to care about being moved by certain music.

When did they start using it in America? I don't ever remember hearing anything with 'core'(unless it was 'hardcore') on the end of it until the late 90s or early 2000s.

Before the late 90s. Repulsion were an American grindcore band and they recorded Horrified in '86 and Napalm Death were in the US music press in the 80s.

I remember listening to Cannibal Corpse and Napalm Death in the early 90s, but I don't remember them being called grindcore back then. Could be the group I was hanging with just didn't know the term.

I'm open to all music genres, so I've listed to quite a lot of different ones. The ones I can't stomach at all are turbo folk and German Schlager. yuck!

I quite like old Death Metal and 90's Screamo.

I mean, there is a lot of dull, generic Death Metal (even from the 80's), and there is a lot of overwrought, cringe-inducing, Screamo from its heyday in the mid-to-late 90's, but I think stuff like this is great as far as Screamo goes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYkUgfLeja0

Having bought that Amalgamation/LIR split on a whim (knowing nothing about either, only that it was a dollar and it had a cool cover), I had no idea what to expect (I actually thought it could be some obscure old Goth record, haha)... but I liked it when I put it on (even if the second vocalist does sound terrible). That record was actually my intro to "Skramz", really!

I don't know of anything in music I "hate" absolutely except "Crunkcore" and every new flash-in-the-pan rehash-of-music-from-20-or-more-years-ago fad-genre Pitchfork writes about (Witch House being a prime example).

HONKY-APPROVED!

I don't listen to a massive load of Hip-Hop myself, but there are some undeniably fantastic "Alternative" HH artists out there.

Oh, yes....... Smooth Jazz is pretty universally awful music, no doubt.

Rap and that pop country. The "she thinks my tractor's sexy" shit. Some of the good western songs that actually tell a story, that's good. Here's an example.

I don't know which I hate the most, people who like everything but country and rap or people who make claims about only listening to the most underground bands you've never heard of.
