Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind. |

Use a 50/50 vinegar/water mixture as a "stop bath", to halt the bleaching when you have the desired effect.

There are various methods, that's why. I've read a method where you fill a spray bottle with a bleach solution, and a method where you put the jeans into a tight ball and hold it under a bleach solution.

I'd put them in a tight ball and then spray.
Try a quarter bleach and the rest water.

I just use straight bleach. I've got effects like the one in the photo from using a syringe to splatter it onto pants laid flat in a bath.

That is a good mix. Get a like a gold color, or a rusty yellow.

The syringe method works quite well, but I find straight bleach usually results in holes...

I've used it straight on tshirts and some jeans, no holes so far. How long did you leave it on for?

I've left un-diluted concentrated bleach on plain cotton t-shirts for hours with no holes.
It really must depend on the fabric.

I did it using the spray bottle method, using undiluted Clorox cleaning solution (so it's already diluted.)
I'll post pictures in the DIY thread later today after I get home from school.
