Been working out these last 3 weeks, made some decent progress, should be able to reach my natural weight by late September.
I keep my work out relatively simple, I lift weights, have a go at the punching bag for maybe 15 minutes, and then finish it with 20 minutes on the treadmill.

I've just had a week of not really doing anything because I wasn't well. I am planning on getting back to swimming this afternoon, but I am so not looking forward to it. It's bizarre because I know that once I get there I will enjoy it, but freak me if I don't feel like it is going to be the worst thing I could be doing with my afternoon.

So, I ask a friend of mine: "Hey, friend of mine, how do you get such killer abs?"
He told me that, in addition to a normal work out, he lays on his back on top of his bed with his torso hanging off the edge and watches funny movies and stand up comedy for about an hour.
That has to be cheating.

Unfortunately, my R. Lee Ermey impression isn't anything to write home about. If I did something like that, it would probably come out closer to this:

HT Don't overdo the exercise. You can burn yourself out.
Struggling to get back to the top of my game, as I was back in early August. Need some new tunes.

Actually, Yuri Verkhoshansky established that the majority of power in a boxer's punch is derived from their step off and midsection. It has more to do with technique then what the size of their arms are.
Regardless, all things being equal, stronger (read that as larger, if you want to) muscles will be stronger. As in, the guy with bigger muscles in his arms will be able to move them faster as well as with more force. Think about the legs that a sprinter has versus those of an endurance runner's.

So now I'm only going to the gym maybe twice a week now, and even then I'm only managing 20 minutes stroll on the treadmill. Huge change from early August when I was going 5 times a week and had energy to spare.
Oh well shit happens, best get over it.

My nurse has signed me up for this new, free weight loss program that's being run in my area. Hopefully they will be able to help me shift some weight soon as I'm just not comfortable at the weight I am.

Could someone please explain to me how my ass is getting bigger while I'm walking 5 miles a day at least and eating as healthy as I can manage at the local cafeteria???

Because you are building muscle but not burning much fat.

There are muscles in your ass? I suppose there must be. It's still annoying, mostly because I can't really afford to replace all my pants.

Depending on the intensity you're putting into walking, its possible you could be raising your cortisol levels (though I'd be really surprised...5 miles a day shouldn't be nearly enough to stress your adrenals if you're otherwise healthy), which could get messy if your local cafeteria is the type to put secret sugar in everything. But you know... internet theories and gains of salt and all that.

The gluteus minimus, gluteus medius and gluteus maximus.
If you don't work out they get flabby.
My muscle tone is making my ass round again and I love it.

Sorry to hear that Graus. it's that time of the year over there, when the winter bugs start moving in.
I'm now lucky if I manage 30 minute stroll on the treadmill, without feeling like I've run a marathon.
Fuck this chronic fatigue shitty sleep deprivation-whatever the fuck it is I have. Dammit. Dammit to HELL!!

Yep, I'm pretty much over it. Way, way, way over it. Everytime I move, it's like trying to push a car uphill with flat tyres and the brakes partially on. It feels like it's darn near impossible at times.
But you know what? I'm still moving my lard-ass, maybe not as fast or as far as before but I'm doing it.
Screw excuses.
