Saw Aliens vs. Predator last night. Not terrible. Writer/director should be shot for the last five seconds, though. Fucking shot and then brought back to health and then shot again.

Fucker.

Can't wait for Alien vs. Predator vs. Gremlins though.

Comandante, Oliver Stone's documentary on Fidel Castro. Great film where the conversation between Oliver and Fidel really sheds light on many aspects of this great and fascinating man and the political struggles he was involved in. Inspirational.

Queen being the saving grace, there!

Actually, there are some bad movies out there that I love, simpley because they're bad and it makes them funny as all hell.

Big Bad Mama? Plan 9 From Outer Space?

Of course, I like certain cheesy movies too! Like Jackie Chan movies. I love Jackie Chan!

Last movie I saw? Don Juan DeMarco. I like Johnny Depp, too.

Watched M. Night Shymalan's The Village.

Not bad quite twisted but then again I worked the bloody thing out before the end - happens every time. that's the problem with having a writers brain.

Wow this is a bad pic.
And was taken 10 years ago.
And I wasn't that white, but I never got around to correcting the color...

Taken at the Century Plaza after lunch, this was before anyone here in the U.S. knew of him. When I went to meet him, people wouls say "who?". Then, after Rumble In The Bronx came out, everyone was all "Hey you had lunch with that guy!". >_<

Ong Bak!!! That movie freaking rocked my world. If you love kung fu movies then you should go see it! I loved it so much! It made me want to learn kung fu.

Also I saw Constatine which wasn't that bad. I enjoyed the movie although Gabriel wasn't a half breed in the Bible. I'm not usally picky about stuff but sometimes little things like that bother me.

I also saw Johnny Mnemonic (forget the spelling). It was alright but I loved the Jesus guy the best. "It's Jesus time!"

Al, it rocks that you got to meet Jackie Chan! Super coolness!

I just got back from seeing Million Dollar Baby. I totally dug it. There were some things that I felt were a bit unresolved by the end of the movie, but it was otherwise a great film. B+.

I just finished Saw. A certain forum member, to whom I will refer as ShmalShmilyu, said I wouldn't like it. I did. I looked past the horrible acting, and actually really enjoyed it.

So there.

I saw Boogeyman a while ago with my fried hannah and her boyfiend (who I am convinced is spiderman). The village made me scream. The Others made me scream. Walkig into a fully lit room and seeing a suitcase made me scream (I kid you not!). The Boogeyman hardly made me jump. The acting was... eh.. and I didn't like how they gave the boogeyman a face. It reminded me too much of freddy kruger. Hey, even that made me scream.

OK, so I was in Vancouver for about a week or so and had a "no movie watching" rule (btw, Al-Cinemuerte WILL be happening again next Halloween. Just got it confirmed)....and I came back and made up for it this past week (not a complete list, but highlights)

"Singapore Sling"-this is literally one of the most fucked up movies I have ever seen in my life. A detective tries to find a (probably dead) woman he's met before, and ends up in this house with a mother-daughter team that....I'd say "use your imagination", but I could never have imagined anything like this. Original, different, and all those other things I look for in films, and at the same time I can't help but think "Fuck you, Kier-La, for making me want to see this film". I also can't help but think that after seeing this and "Island Of Death", I never, ever want to go to Greece.

"American Astronaut"-a low-budget musical spoof of sci-fi films from the 40's. Not for all tastes, but if yours runs along the lines of "Rocky Horror/Cat Women Of The Moon/Rocket XM", then this puppy's for you.

"Hedwig And The Angry Inch"-The greatest musical ever made.

"Night And The City"-Jules Dassin, before having to get the fuck out of the US (because, you know, commies were taking Hollywood jobs from REALLY talented people like Ronald Reagan) was a master of the style that later was called "noir". Whilst figuring out his best american film is close to impossible ("Brute Force", "Thieves Highway", "The Naked City"), "Night And The City" is, for me, the pinnacle of not only his films, but of noir in general. From the gritty camerawork, to Richard Widmarks nervous energy, to....fuck, everything in this film is just perfect.

"Force Of Evil"-whilst "Night and the City" is the perfect noir film, "Force Of Evil" is noir becoming poetry. A morality tale set in the world of number rackets, "FOE" rips the mask off of "society" and exposes the festering rot underlying it all, and does so with dialogue that's nothing short of a torrent of white noise jazz.

"Anatmoy Of Hell"-Catherine Breillaut is a director I admire, yet whose films I hate (aside from "Fat Girl"). Man and woman do nothing but fuck each other silly and talk about how much they hate themselves and the world around them. It's a low rent "In The Realm Of The Senses", but where Nagisa Oshima was trying to explore the male/female dynamic on a personal and socialogical viewpoint, Breillaut seems to have made this film to look at Rocco Sifreddi slap around another chick and fuck her up the ass. Too pretensious to be either intelligent or erotic, and if you're in the mood for Rocco fucking women in the most humiliating of ways, you can always go to your local porn shop.

"The Loneliest Runner"-A made-for-TV film from the 70's with abusive single mothers, bed-wetting, lots of running, and a heart-warming resolution.....AND it's made by Michael Landon of "Little House" and "Highway To Heaven" infamy!!!! Definately on the "so bad it's awesome" side of things.

"Penitentiary"-An OK blaxplo/men-in-prison exploiter. It's alright, but I says to you all-skip it and go straight for "Penitentary 3" (and the awsomness of the Midnight Thud!!!)

"Flavia The Heretic"-a transcript from me and my girlfriend

Her-"why is it that almost every film you watch has blood and bad acting?"

Me-"Not every film"

Her-"OK, every film you show me. I mean, it's fun and all, but what about the other, like, 1,000 films in your collection"

Me-"Baby, it's like food. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a rare New York steak or a Fillet Minot with garlic butter and lemon, other times I'm in the mood for a slurpee and a double whopper with american cheese"

Her-"Yeah, but you've been eating a lot of whoppers lately, and watching too many of these.....OH MY GOD!"

Me-"What? Oh yeah, I forgot. There's an actual horse castration in this film."

Her-"What's that have to do with nuns in ancient times"

Me-"Artistically, it's to hint that Flavia'll be skinned alive later in the film. Realistically though, it's just to gain an audience by saying 'this film has an actual castration in it'"

Her-"I....I'm going upstairs"

Me-"I love you"

Her-"uh huh"
