Check out this 5 minute video clip from YouTube

DID YOU KNOW?

We are indeed living in exponential times. Feel free to discuss.

yeah I saw an earlier version last year in my public speaking class and, while the numbers have changed a bit, it is still a bit mind blowing. We all know that we live in a world that is constantly changing but few realize just how fast and how drastically this change is occurring. It also makes me feel like my college education is an utter waste of time and money.

Actually, it's not. While the advance of knowledge turnover is very disconcerting from a personal awareness point of view, employers value the possession of the degree much more than the quality and content of information a person might retain. So while my girlfriend has many years of advanced real-world bookkeeping experienced that make her more qualified to address the accounting needs of an average business, she routinely loses the job search to wet-behind-the-ears recent college grads who don't know a quarter of what she does.

Which works to your advantage for having that degree, even if you think the knowledge you gained is compromised.

By 2046, there will exist a computer with computational abilities that exceed those of the entire human species.
Let's think of a name for it, guys. How about Heavenweb? Airlattice? Sk- oh god.

Ending question: What does it all mean ?

It's all mean that time is moving and there're lots of people on this planet.

...or whatever you'd prefered.

I bet you thought that was a profound thing to say, right?

I'm guessing there's a $1000 PC right now that has greater computational power than the human brain of one of the people who has posted in this thread.
