This is a reversed situation for me. Except I am the mother and it is my 14 year old who thinks I am going through a phase. It is has been a long phase going back a number of years now, I think he possibly has just noticed that I am different from most of the mothers round here and I for one love being different.

Really i think its mostly that people don't understand. They will ask questions that really tend to be offensive, even if they don't mean it.
I hear all the time, "oh your goth, i used to be goth."
Like they are implying it is a phase?? Like I will grow out of it? They mean it in all kindness, but just don't think about what they are saying.
I think it just comes with the territory.
