Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

I like Nirvana but thats just me and I am not pretentious enough to call myself a goth.

Nirvana is cool, but they're like as much as Green Day, or Blink... well more... eh...

No, I've found a way to get around that. Just post "Dude, you're gonna get flamed", and then in an effort to prove me wrong, they don't! IT'S FUCKING GENIUS!!!
P.S, Nirvana are fucking shit.

The same reason anyone else gets flamed for liking a band that's "Not Goth".
I like Duran Duran!
Hey, that's not Goth! You're obviously a partard!
No, I just like a different style of music.
No, you're a retard and a Christian, so you suck! And make an introduction thread!

I used to like Nirvana. Until I found many clearly superior bands. The only good thing that they came out with was "Bleach".

The flaming's not going to happen. I don't think I've ever seen it happen except by spunky new members who come to this board expecting to find Ultra Elitism.
Truth is, people tend to be quite varied in their tastes, and only rarely commit to a certain genre.

They have some good tunes... but I find their music pretty boring for the most part.

I don't know why everyone thought we would all flame him, either...
Nirvana's a decent band and has inspired a lot of musicians. My friends all thought they were the shit when we were thirteen, and later they became a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Unfortunately, Nirvana suffers the same fate as The Misfits - they're both bands that have their t-shirts worn by kids who've heard maybe three songs by them. This produces a lot of Nirvana-haters.
But no flaming for liking them. There's nothing 'wrong' with that. I'd rather flame you for spelling your favourite band's name incorrectly.

I don't like the fact that Kurt Cobain thought that the lyrics were secondary to the sound.

NIRVANA opened for us at the Mason Jar in Phoenix, or did I just dream that. Life can be so absurd.
I like NIRVANA, although I don't own anything by them I often thought of buying something.

Meh, they're all good.
They made the Molly l l Duck song, 'Molly's lips'.
Most people get flamed for making those "I <3 x Bands... & you?" threads when they have one or two posts because we get annoyed from seeing nothing but pure multitudes of these threads being replicated for the 13th time. That's what irks me, but I haven't seen a Nirvana thread in a while so I don't expect the horror of the flaming masses.
Question: Why the fuck are there so many 'I hate myself and I want to die" shirts out there with Kurt's face on it with a crap picture of his face? Wouldn't any musician who didn't wish to become mainstream hate to their core?

I'm not a fan- I find them to be impossibly overhyped. As far as that whole scene is concerned, I actually prefer the Smashing Pumpkins.

I'm going to see The Smashing Pumpkins play with Queens of the Stone age on March 20th.
