Getting frustrated with my readings, we're learning about neopaganism this week. I don't get the people who appropriate pre-Christian religions and adapt it for their explicitly feminist religion. They were very patriarchal and often guilty of the same criticisms the neopagans have of institutional religions today. Part of what makes Christianity notorious we can link to the involvement of the Hellenistic Romans converting and bringing their own spiritual baggage into it. And then there's the appropriation of karma from Hinduism and Buddhism, two very institutionalized religions, and they end up getting it wrong. I'm trying to keep my scholar hat on and being objective and not roll my eyes, but...I have to read about Raelians. This might be what breaks me.

After at least two decades of various religions, I found that I am most happy with NO religion.

Fuck you, makers of of clothing for petite women. Not all of us are shaped like twigs. All I want is a pair of jeans in a style other than 'skinny'. Is that really so hard? Seriously, some of us don't have the thighs the size of a prepubescent girl.BAH.

MC, apparently skinny jeans are going to be out of style soon. Pull your bell bottoms out of storage. . . oh and they have some cute ones at AE right now.

^^ I hope that's true. I personally can't stand wearing skinny jeans as they make my arse look ten miles wide. Sure, they look great on SOME people and yay for them but seriously, not all of us are able to carry them off and I'd like to see more variety than I do right now.

You know what is really strange? Skinny cargo pants. I was trying to find some new pants for work and pockets are helpful so I was looking at cargos and most of the cargos for women were skinnies. It was weird.

I almost forgot what I was going to complain about. I'm an idiot for agreeing to work a double today. I'm already bored out of my skull and I feel like my brain is trying to hibernate to conserve energy

Well, the information itself can come in handy. Mind you, most neo-pagans would stare right through you in a vacant, slack-jawed manner if they heard you describe their shit like that. Even though you're pretty much right.

My old roommate was pagan when we lived together, so I hung out with her yesterday fishing around for her view on it. She's not pagan anymore, damn!

I think the roommate I had when I lived in a dorm is still Wiccan though, will have to make a date XD

I, too, am tired of no selection or variety for plus-size goth subculture clothing. I decided to take action and make my own. I found some easy-sew patterns (for size range XL - 6X!!!!) for simple capri pants but extended the legs and added straps, d-rings, and grommits; for the vest, it was a simple pattern that was already elongated to just above the knees, I used eyelets and cord in the upper back to give a nice corsetry look plus it flatters ABOVE the tummy look (which is nice for us big girls) and everything else really depends on creativity. The fabric you choose really has a lot to do with the look/aesthetic you are trying to bring across. Now to get the dread falls going *phew!

The patterns are by Connie Crawford, available through Butterick Patterns:
#B5504 (capri pants & shorts)
#B5473 (vest, jacket & pants)

The original price for each was $18.95 USD but I got smart until the local fabric shop had a sale, whereas I bought each pattern for only $1.00 USD. It is good to keep an eye out for your local fabric and craft shop sales adverts! Good luck to all you DIYers!

Gah I've been here for 12 hours, I mean I worked 12 hour shifts back in Howl-O-Scream but at least I got real breaks and there was shit to do, here I got nothing. I have to stay at the desk other than going to the bathroom or getting food and for the entierty of my shift there were less than 10 people in the building, including staff (who all had paper work and such to do so it isn't like we could just sit around talking).

I just came back from my drill over the weekend, wasn't able to sleep for two days, for the exception of 2-3 hours on Friday night. Because, at the berthing we get roommates if we are e-5 or lower, well my roommate looked like the guy from lawnmower man, snored like a fucking chainsaw, and every twenty minutes would wake up screaming from some night terror. So no sleep. In the morning i got to the base an instantly started running around, ended up moving 150 eighty pound tables and over 700 chairs. Finally got released, got up to my barracks and my room mate was up there again. No sleep at all. Sunday morning, went to take an exam. Got done with that ended up being told to help clean out the 150 tables and shitloads of chairs and put them back in the warehouse. Got done, made back to the base and ended up running around again, got yelled at for not getting everything done, then drove 5 hours to get home. I'm still tired.

Try and drink a lot of water - I think that's supposed to help.

Wordress I could access but my boss decided that we are going to reorganize just about everything so I have plenty to do, so no need to rush switching it over.
