Yeah she has one of the world's tiniest waists. The pictures of her waist in her book are astounding! She's done a lot of waist training.

Amy Lee's voice {albeit there are rumours of her needing voice altering}
is not that horrible to listen too.

That's bull, considering when Ev first started out they didn't have the money to alter her voice.

I don't like Amy Lee, nor do I like that song they have. 'Call me when you're sober.' It makes my ears bleed. I want to shove a knife into Amy Lee's throat.

I like some of their songs, like "My Immortal". It's beautiful, I don't care about their band images as I only look at the music (or, usually, anyway) to make my judgment. I couldn't have listened to them all the time, though... I'd miss the postpunk style too much

Maybe they are not goths themselves, but they are still 1 amazing band!

I think there are a Gothic inspiration in their music. Evanescence has some very Gothic-sounding, bone chilling pieces, for example Like You or Whisper, that express depressed feelings of death and darkness far better than a screaming Goth-dressed Marilyn Manson ever could.
Okay, look here, nobody on this forum has called Marilyn Manson "goth king". Heck, the thing is you're new here and you automatically judge that we worship Manson because the title of this website is Gothic.net. Did you even bother to even READ any of the posts here? Marilyn Manson is RARELY ever mentioned here! And it's sickening how you would think we see him as "goth king". We aren't idle-minded twits here. We know what a "genre" is thank you very much. Marilyn Manson is not a art of the Gothic musical genre. Or even dark wave for that matter. If you've done your musical studies my friend, Marilyn Manson is Industrial shock-rock. Not "Gothic". So let me get this straight, you believe because Marilyn Manson wears black most of the time he's "goth-dressed"? Tom Araya of Slayer dresses in black frequently, but they are thrash metal, correct? Answer me this, when have you ever seen Manson in Victorian-style dress style? Never, correct? If you even bother to read the posts in this community you'll see Peter Murphy and Andrew Eldritch are mentioned here more than Manson would half the time. Good sir, I must ask you to open your eyes and your mind if you wish to partake in intellectual-minded musical conversation. I'm not trying to seem like some superiority or elitist at all. I'm just pointing out the obvious. Thank you sir, and good day to you.

Evanescence are poseurs if I've ever seen one. Before they got popular they were just a little "metal" band without the spooky gimmick. Amy Lee, at that time, was asked about goth, and replied in roughly "I'm not; I don't spend all day doing my makeup". So once the band realized they could make money off this image, Amy Lee's all "Oh, I've ALWAYS been goth n' shit!"

It makes Santa Claus himself vomit with rage.
The music is symphonic hard rock with heavy bubblegum pop appeal for the stupid kids who'll listen to anything in eyeliner. Fuck em ta hell.

I think Evanescence is great. I love Amy's voice and her style. She is an amasingly beutiful and talented woman. The band is in a legue of it's own.

I also like Marilyn Manson, although he is not a king in my eyes.

I think it's more of a personal preference as to what one considers goth these days. I personally don't listen to strictly "gothic" sounding bands, although I will admit that most of my inspiration comes from these types.

Evanescense has definitely changed their sound on The Open Door, and I honestly think that this is the direction that Amy Lee wanted the band to go in the first place. I have seen many interviews with her, regarding what her personal likes and dislikes are and although she doesn't label herself as goth, or anything at all for that matter-her personal interest don't stray too far from what most of todays (or yesterdays for that matter) goths embrace.

The band wants air play, so therefor creates sounds that will get them that. I have found it interesting though that their new stuff, albeit getting air play, does sound quite a bit different from the typical mainstream stuff you hear.

Could this change kill their already established fan-base? Perhaps. But as Lee has said herself, if their already existing fans fly the coop they will only be replaced with new ones who appreciate their new sound.

As for Manson-he himself has declared that he is NOT goth, so there really shouldn't be an argument.

Manson probably hates "goths", actually. They give him an even more negative image than he probably wants, depite being shock rock, not to mention he used to be in KMFDM [That's right.], so he obviously likes industrial metal.

MM being industrial is to be disputed, though. I don't think he is, but who cares?

Are you sure about that? I think you should post your source. I don't keep up with MM so it's just a curiosity.

Thanks.

It's very possible I'm confusing facts, which I am.

What it was was Tim Skold OF Marilyn Manson joined KMFDM.

Sorry for the mixup, but what I said still stands, if Manson's surrounding members would JOIN KMFDM.

I'm sick. My brain isn't working right.

Shock Rock is more of an accurate description of Manson's stuff. But because of his look and style and persona, he's been lumped into the goth music scene because "shock rock" doesn't really exist anymore since Alice Cooper. (I love alice cooper!)

I am sure Manson likes industrial. He was in NIN after all, before heading out on his own. Don't hear much of him anymore, even with the new CD out. I heard the new song on DC101 and wasn't that impressed.

Anyone else hear it?

Again, I'd be interested in a source. I don't think that Manson was officially part of Nine Inch Nails. He made an appearence in a music vid and was on Reznor's Nothing label. They have collaborated I'm sure, but how could Manson be in Nine Inch Nails before he started, when Reznor was Nine Inch Nails? He (Reznor) hired people to play his songs live when he went on tour. I'm not sure what Trent does now or if he still composes all of his own music. I've lost track of both bands.

Anyways, like I mentioned, a source would be cool once again out of curiosity.
