They always want you to explain yourself...
Dammit. I work my ass off. I pay my bills. I no longer get involved in people's lives. I made up with my brother. I give to the ASPCA. I feed the strays. I am a decent person who just likes her peace and quiet and to go through life with little friction and static...
Goddammit...
If I want to buy "Spice World", the last thing I deserve is to get shit from the acne ridden, mommy-money, film-student twattle behind the counter at Borders about my trite taste and why I should watch Tarantino instead.
The best part?
The annoying cell-phone-chatty girly-girl behind me in line was overhearing the exchange and shouted "Girl Power" in the worst fake Cockney I ever heard, and then gave me her number and told me that she'd watch it with me. An evil thought struck, I felt a green, Grinchy smile curl over my lips to the sides of my face.... I looked at the clerk and smiled- "I may have bad taste in movies, but at least I got an offer to score with a hot chick tonight."
Two birds, one snowball. I walked out with the DVD.
The bestest part?
After all that bullshit, "Spice World" is a gift for someone else....

Jillian: Spice World is the incredibly boring/inane movie starring the Spice Girls.
Molly: I'm going to goto our local Borders and see if I too can score a chick while getting the Spice World DVD. ha!

That was a brilliant story. I'd like to have seen the look on the guy's face.
"Spice World" has to be one of the worst movies ever. The basic outline of the movie is this:
The Spice Girls decide that being famous is too hard. A bunch of second-rate celebrities show their faces, Ginger Spice has her tit fondled by an alien, Richard O'Brien comes out of their toilet, they sing a song and the movie's over. It's just a mishmash of broken plot points and flashes of titties.

Indeed, the girls do come across aliens, and of course intelligent beings from another planet would ask for their autographs and a little action from Ginger.

Reality is often the best punchline.
And Meatloaf is their bus driver...
"I'd do anything for you girls... but I won't do that."
Forgive me, I was a 19 year old cheerleader when they hit big on this side of the ocean, and they do hold a special place in my heart. I still like them as brainless entertainment. They were far, far more fun than Britney ever thought to be.

(Nods) I loved them. Still kind of do.
Miss Molly, you are brilliant. And cruel. But still brilliant.
"Baby, the stars shine bright..." Okay, I'm done.

I did actually call the chatty faux-cockney girl and asked her over. She said he's not a lesbian and that I had mistaken her invite. I apologized and then added that I had assumed she was gay from the way she had dressed and her interest in the Spice Girls sealed the deal... her protests made me laugh.
After a couple of minutes, I did actually apologize and got her to laughing about the whole damned thing. She then recommended "Sugar and Spice" for my apparently sucky movie collection. She said we may meet up for coffee to exchange shitty flicks.
Damn shame I'm straight.
