Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Fuck the Industry
The following is meant to be a fast, angry deathrock song in the vein of Penis Flytrap or 45 Grave.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
something's wrong today with rock and roll it's sad but true
rebellion has become a trend so what the fuck to do
rock and roll once was a way to stick it to the man
but nowadays the man is stuffing his wallet with its fans
the music industry has become just that an industry
pre-packaged self expression it's such an atrocity
music was an art and rock 'n roll a way of life
but one day the man realized it sells and shoved in a butcher knife
they dressed it up real clean and stripped away all the free thought
it wasn't real but the fans couldn't tell and so they bought bought bought
and nowadays all local bands are the same pre-packaged fucks
they're poseur bands trying to be cool and make a real quick buck
all their music sounds exactly the same they're afraid to experiment
don't see them doing what they want for fear of detriment
chorus:
they took the soul from rock 'n roll
and now it's time to pay
we give your industry our salute
every single fucking day
one finger raised up in the air
it's time to tear down walls
we're gonna fuck the industry
join us if you have the balls!:
some time ago the man realized punk rock was doing well
so they stripped it down and cleaned it up and made it sell sell sell
a genre that was meant to disgust offend and raise pure hell
is nowadays playing pussy rock on prime time T.R.L.
it's popularity eventually died out as well the profit died with it
so the man looked for a new target to turn into total shit
he set his eyes on gothic rock it's music just wouldn't sell out
but the shocking fashion was a money makerhe knew without a doubt
so he stripped away all the music no conformist would ever buy
and he put his pussy rock bands in eyeliner and sold the fans a lie
they think they are rebelling by lining the man's fat wallet
in reality they're part of his plan to wallow in his own shit
chorus:
they took the soul from rock 'n roll
and now it's time to pay
we give your industry our salute
every single fucking day
one finger raised up in the air
it's time to tear down walls
we're gonna fuck the industry
join us if you have the balls!:
:tack on to chorus:
We're gonna fuck the industry there's nothing they can do 4x
:breakdown: the man fucked us over, now we're returning the favor
:chorus
something's wrong with rock and roll today its oh so fucking true
there's a civil war in full effect and it's all because of you
instead of fighting the fat rich pigs who stole our music's life
every subculture and scene is stabbing the other in the back with a knife
you know you don't have to like the music by any means just keep in mind
you're all connected by an insatiable need to stand out from the daily grind
it's like a church after a schism dividing from petty disagreements
divided we fall united we stand to fuck the fascist industry
:chorus 4x:
:spoken word outro
Fuck the money and fuck the fame.
All that's bullshit compared to the soul that rock has. rock 'n roll is sacred.
All great art was once seen as stupid or wrong, so don't be afraid to take
risks. you don't need some superficial dickwad hiding behind a desk
telling you what to think. free your mind and be a slave to no one
but the god that is rock 'n roll.
I'm loving it Drac! It's too true that they've homogenized music to the point of destroying what it truly was. You should put this to music, if you haven't already. And if (or when) you do, please post a link, I would love to hear it.
Fuck you, fuck me, fuck everybody.
Or alternatively, I'm angry because I'm not good enough to get into the industry. Amazing how things change when bands get a record label behind them...
Mmm. Interesting rhetoric.
In fact, that's the thing I don't like about this song. The mention of bands today being pre-packaged. Because that's presumptuous pendulum has to come back in the other direction, no?
I will say I like the verse about gothic rock. ^__^
Overall, very anthemic. I especially liked this couplet:
"a genre that was meant to disgust offend and raise pure hell
is nowadays playing pussy rock on prime time T.R.L."
Loved it! Good job! Almost felt as if you reached into my mind and picked my brain!
It's probably an amazing coincidence, but we were just discussing something like this in another thread.
I wish everyone could hear this song, or at least read it.
And I just love the chorus.
That was amusing to read, you made an excellent point though. There are barely any good bands in the mainstream anymore, the industry really has fucked things up.
Damn, why do you have to be such a good song-writer, can I borrow some of your talent?
