Dyeing clothes?
Okay, I just bought come clothing dye the other day and I was wondering how I should go about it.
I want to dye some shirts that I have, only I'm not really sure what I should do, is there something special I need to do before hand? And is there a way I could dilute the dye so there's more for my shirts?
I want to dye my shirts completely black... with one bottle of dye. Hence the second question.
Anyway, I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.
Thanks. ^_^

I'd suggest buying more than one bottle. The color most likely wont come out as black as you want it. But then again I have no idea. Just be safe then sorry I guess.

Aren't there instructions on the bottle?
If there weren't, you should have asked when you bought it.
I suggest you use a little more dye than is recommended, to make sure the clour is nice and bold, and don't try to dilute it unless the instructions specifically say that you should.

Has anyone with dyeing experience got a suggestion for the best dye? I'm coloring a pair of gray jeans and I want them blaaaack. Black as midnight, black as pitch, blacker than the foulest witch. You get the idea. Plus I want it to stay.

Rit sucks. I have yet to try the Dylon, but I've heard it's good.

Sweeeeet. I'll get a pouch of that next time I'm at the store. Does anyone know if they make a nice purple?

I think I used Dylon purple mixed with some blue for a violet colour. It worked really well and has stayed in perfectly after over a year's worth of washes. Just use as little water as possible to keep the dye concentrated, and leave whatever your dying in it overnight or more.
The best dyes I've ever used though are Procion Fibre Reactive dyes. They're a bit tricky to use because you need other chemicals and a fuckload of salt to make them work, but well worth it for the blackest blacks and brightest colours.
