Literature Please come visit. People get upset, write poetry about it, and post it here. Sometimes we also talk about books. |

Sir Edgar Allen Poe
Before you get all "EEW GROSS GOFFIC POSEUR" I do legitimately like him. At least what I've seen thus far.
I'm actually pretty new to Sir Edgar Allen Poe's work and I've only read the Raven. I loved the poem right away. I'm waiting for a book of his collected works to be available at my school library so I can read more of his work. I'm loving his writing style.
What do you think of Sir Edgar Allen Poe and his works?

If you would honor his name you spell his name correctly.
FAIL.

Edgar Alan Poe is amazing. I love his work. Not because it's "gothic", but because it's amazing.

Yeh.. Some people can't spell, but people need to get over their phobia of people who can't spell.
Not being able to spell doesn't make you stupid. Some people have this thing called dyslexia. OP may not have dyslexia, but still.. They're not dumb.

While I wouldn't claim to be a huge fan of the guy... the OP didn't claim to be an obsessional. He just said he liked what he'd seen so far, which was ONE POEM. Correcting the spelling = fine & dandy, but if you love this author sooooooo much that seeing his name spelt incorrectly actually offends you, maybe you could bring more to the discussion than telling a potential fan they suck for not Googling the spelling of his name first. If the OP is sooooo inferior, can't you at least try to educate him, before deciding nothing will do but trying to make him feel stupid? Like, "it's actually spelled Edgar ALLAN Poe, and by the way, if you liked "The Raven", then you could try ..."

Meh, I was feeling crabby that day. Actually, I misspelled his name too, in my intro thread. But I also already created a thread for him:

Haha. Well, even people who can't spell can still appreciate good writers.
...I am a prime example I guess. :]

GentlemanBeard, I hope you do not feel like a moron. I only pointed out my use of google and spell check to help. I conceal no knives in my jabs.
