Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Look here
Try some of those bands.
You might like The Birthday Massacre clicky.
Or The Cruxshadows maybe Click again
Not sure what else you'd enjoy, but try the other bands on that thread, especially stuff out of the first part of the list like Sisters of Mercy.

Your taste in music is fowl. I hope to goth that you don't believe this is goth.
Try the Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Siouxie and the Banshees, Morrissey, Paradise Lost, The Smiths, and, if you want to listen to newer stuff, The Cruxshadows, In Strict Confidence and Diorama.
Now head over to the fashion thread for that oh so essential goth image!
That should get you started on your way to becoming a Goth.

Eee thanks ^^
Well, DeathToLems, considering that she posted a list of bands commonly confused for goth on a gothic website, and then asked for more suggestions, would lead me to believe that she truly believes they're goth. Heck I dont care weather or which. Just if she wants to listen to goth she should know that well ... she isn't at the moment.

-makes a face- You don't have much, do you?
That's not goth, though I have enjoyed Evanescence for a time.
London After Midnight, Cruxshadows, and Joy Division are all good, try them.

I didn't know if they were goth or not. Those are just the ones I could remember off the top of my head. I do have "The Birthday Massacre" and love them. I like the Cruxshadows but don't know where to get their cds. I also love Angelspit and Omnia and Combichrist.....

Meh listen to what you like whatever other people say, it makes no difference what genre people label it as. But yeh people here will get annoyed if you claim stuff like HIM is goth Not that you actually did so its all good.
Cool, I figured TBM and the Cruxshadows might fit your taste more. Wouldn't have guessed you'd like Angelspit or Combichrist though. You could get CD's online? Or MP3's, on iTunes etc? I only really know one shop where'd I'd find that sort of music in an actual store to be honest and its in Camden. Or a number of places there maybe.
What about Sisters of Mercy or Fields of the Nephilim? And theres a band called Miazma, who are rather good, they sound like the Sisters. Plus their music is free! Click
The Dollar Rush album is better in my opinion, if you just want to try one song first I'd say try Penelope Crush.

OOH cool, thanks Raptor . I'll look into them.
But Yeah I love Angelspit and Combichrist. I love anything with a beat . My favorite song is "100%" by Angelspit. I've tried listening to "Mindless Self Indulgence" but I think they are one of those I have to listen to over and over to see if I like them alot (I recently got their cd Frankenstein Girls will seem Strangely Sexy).

No problem.
I really like Combichrist at the moment, and Panzer AG (Andy Laplegua's side project). Angelspit are ok, their stuff gets repetitive quickly though. Even compared to most other electronic stuff of that kind.
Some MSI songs are good, they played at my uni a few months ago.

Can't help you much, I'm still new. Hm, though, here's a tip, don't label Green Day or Blink 182 as punk bands, or Stormtrooper will go nuclear.

Ah thats a shame, live bands are almost always fun. MSI was rather full of 14 year old emos, who informed me that guys wearing leather boots is gay...
The band were good though. VNV Nation played here in Decemeber too, that was great. Oh yeh, try VNV if you don't know them. I think this is probably my favourite song by them here.
Andy Laplegua is the singer in Combichrist, so Panzer AG sound rather like them I like this song click again

If you are looking for some good Hardcore music check out Sick Of It All.
And when listening to The Cure, be sure to check out the song Just Like Heaven.

Strobelight/Hungry Eye/In the Night Time/Mutant Transmission/Skin Graft Records, officially. And past issues of Drop Dead don't hurt either.
Soulseek. If you gotta go the pirate route for music, at least chart the best route.

Here's a whole lotta stuff. Some of it's goth; some of it ain't.
Burning Face, The Birthday Party, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Subhumans, Alien Sex Fiend, Premature Ejaculation, Throbbing Gristle, SPK, The Adicts, Iggy and the Stooges, Moon and the Nightspirit, Xmal Deutschland (though I know not everyone likes them), Velvet Underground.

You'd like Amaran, Theatre of Tragedy, Lullacry, To/Die/For, Poisonblack, later Sentenced, and Disillusion's album "Gloria." It's more Gothic, their first album was fucking intense prog everything-metal.

Lacuna Coil! Start with the Unleashed Memories albumn, and then Comalies.
Oh, and anything by Miazma, although I am partial to Rise and Penelope Crush.
And Cult of the Psychic Fetus, SubHumans, VNV Nation, Clan of Xymox ( Innocent is great for driving a hundred on the freeway! ), the list goes on and on...
