Hawthorne Heights Guitarist Dead At 26

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/...ead_at_26.html

Casey Calvert of Hawthorne Heights, the popular screamo band, has died in his sleep on Saturday the 24th of 2007, he was 26 years old.

No official word on what the cause of death was but surviving band members insist there were no illegal activities tied to Calvert's death.

Hawthorne Heights had a show in Detroit, Michigan on Friday night and was scheduled for a show on Saturday in Washington D.C.

The official Hawthorne Heights website posted the following to their fans.

"Today is probably the worst day ever. Its with our deepest regrets that we have to write this. Casey Calvert passed away in his sleep last night. We found out this afternoon before sound-check. We've spent the entire day trying to come to grips with this and figure out as much as possible. At this time we're not sure what exactly happened. Just last night he was joking around with everyone before he went to bed. We can say with absolute certainty that he was not doing anything illegal. Please, out of respect to Casey and his family, don't contribute or succumb to any gossip you may hear. We don't want his memory to be tainted in the least. Casey was our best friend. He was quirky and awesome and there will truly be no others like him! His loss is unexplainable. As soon as we know more we will let you know.

Sincerely,

Hawthorne Heights

Eron, JT, Micah and Matt"

All I can really say is that it doesn't affect me much. It is unfortunate though.

THERE WAS DRUGS INVOLVED! DRUGS AND PROSTITUTION! AND POSSIBLY A GANG!
*kidding*

That's sad.. to lose someone so suddenly at such a young age. I hope that it wasn't because of any questionable activities. Eh.. doesn't affect me, either..
It would be different if it was someone like Peter Murphy. THAT would make me cry.

I am speechless... how can someone just... die in their sleep at age 26? I'm interested for the results of the autopsy and such, because that it just weird and really sad.

You know, assuming three people die every second, about 180 individuals passed from this world in the time it took me to write this post, and odds are I care about two thirds of them more than I care about this guy.

It could have been an anuerysm, or something along those lines. Sometimes these things happen.

That makes me wonder what the point of eating healthy an exercising is, if you could drop dead at 26. o_O

He must have had some issue that he's always had that finally caught up with him...

Look at John Ritter he was just standing around normaly and just died right on the spot from a heart issue. We are all mortal here (if anyone here isn't I want in) everyday people just fall down dead for no reason at all reguardless of age. It was bound to happen to another celebrity sooner or later.

I second what Green Lady said. The thought of their music makes me vomit. But said anyways.

Maybe he finally realized what a crappy band he was in? *catches a facefull of tomato* Ok ok, I'm sorry. Still, I would've rather had this happened to MCR's guitarist. No, wait... that would've made them more "gothic".

That's sad, and sorta lame. Just drop dead?

At least Sean Taylor, died of a gunshot. Wouldn't that me a more dramatic way to go?

(BTW, lots of hate towards their music. I've never heard them, what sort of genre are they [other than 'screamo']?)

While it's unfortunate that a man died, HH isn't goth so how is this pertinent?

It doesn't pertain to goth. It is music related, however.

Why does everyone go "Oh, who cares, it was just another guy" just because they didn't like the band?

Fuck, if you don't like the band, and you don't particularly care about the guy, then feel free to leave the topic, but just saying that you don't care that he's dead in a thread dedicated to his death is disrespectful.

As it is, I didn't know much of their music, and whilst formulaic, I remember quite liking a couple of their songs.

*Blushes*

RIP anyway, shame he died so young.
