The Cure

Probably many other threads about em. But here's another. A place for all Cure related discussion, queries etc etc .

I shall start by asking what the song is on their website. When you first click the link and it comes up with the "Festival 2005" thing.

I can't find it anyway and I wanntsss it

Also, they have a new double album coming out soon. Not sure when though.

I pretty much stopped buying CURE albums in the early 80's, but those first 4 albums, ending with "Pornography" were all very good. Their pop stuff is actually enjoyable to hear on the eighties channel, they and XTC would be my favorite english pop bands from that period.

The Only Cure album I own is Disintigration.

I loves it very much.
*embraces CD*

I'm too poor/lazy to buy/download anything else though....

The only cd of theirs I can find is this greatest hits cd. I wish I could've been born the time that they started making music. I feel really late... But I love them, they are impressive.

As much as I love The Cure, I'll have to agree with that statement, though I'll replace "shit" with "unmemorable."

Disintegration definitely owns, but all of their albums do have solid tracks on them.

Magickaykay, we may have been born too late to see The Cure in all its former glory, but at least they're still touring. Many of the other bands we all love have pretty much stopped touring, or someone has died, etc. etc.

I saw the Cure just last year and they were still awesome. Definitely one of my favourite bands, even if I don't listen to them all that often anymore. They're just... classic.

Pornography is by far my favourite album, closely followed by Disintegration. Predictable, I know, but those albums are popular for a reason.

YESS. I'd have to say this about most 80's bands as well.

Pretty much. There were a good amount of ones that made fantastic song after fantastic song, but they never got off the ground for some reason.

I love The Cure. Robert Smith is one of my hero's. But I would have to agree with Green.Lady/Tha Duckman.

I would love the chance to see them live.

I don't understand how they got stuck with the genre label "goth."

Everyone knows they hate being called goth anyway.
(doesn't matter to me though. I could listen to them all day )

Oh... well that's disappointing. It may as well not be a genre then.

The Cure was one of the bands that I really loved, twas them that showed me how much I actually disliked the music I normally listened to.

That was about 5-6 years ago, oh the memories

I grew up with nothing much else to listen to but Dire Straits, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd & The Cure. Still love them to bits. I own the Pornography Deluxe Edition and it was the only album I re-purchased after I lost all of my albums. It's fantastic and I think they're one of my favourite bands of all time.

Welcome to the world of Goth Denial. Applicable to bands, people, authors, etc. Robert denying goth, in turn makes him 43085 times more goth. Don't ask how this works.

The Cure is great. Faith and Pornography are my favorite releases, though Bloodflowers is pretty good too. The Cure got stuck with the goth label because of their mopey subject matter and image, not to mention their sound resembled light-gothic rock; this is especially true with their early releases like Pornography and Disintegration.

Yes, you are right, but they never come to my city. BUT my friend's mom want me to go see The Cure in concert with them, which of course, is out of town for me. I want to go soo bad, she just told me last night <3

I mostly like The Cure in their early years, up until Pornography to be precise. Though they do have a lot or really great songs on later albums.

Andrew Eldritch and Robert Smith both love claiming they are not goth. But Rob was the one who promoted the look. So, he's stuck with it whether he likes it or not. Andrew too.

At least Bob doesn't antagonize his fans by doing things like shaving his head, performing in yellow track suits and getting on the bill at big Metal festivals. As much as I love the Sisters, Eldritch is just a prick.

Actually, I find it rather hilarious that Eldritch does that. You see, that's the greatest thing about being famous. You can do all this and still get people to come to your concerts.
