Mallgoths, mopeys, whatever.
This isn't a pretentious post or anything...But.
What do you think of mallgoths and mopeys?
They used to piss me off, how the subculture could have gotten that far out of reach with it's roots.
But now...Not so much.

Though they're entitled to however they like to dress, I personally am a bit peeved by them. I just don't like how they think all goths, or whatever they call themselves, are mopey all the time, or dress so outrageously it'd even make a corpse's eyes bleed. But hey, I'm not one to dictate to them how to act or how to dress....
I just wish they'd leave me alone. They're all crawling out of the woodwork now and talking to me as if I'm their friend. And they're so gloomy, I just can't stand being around them! That's probably why I don't like them very much.... ah well, maybe they'll get tired of bugging me sometime in the near future.

I really don't give a shit. If I want to listen to Bauhaus, I can. If some other kid wants to listen to Rob Zombie and call it goth, I can still listen to Bauhaus.
If I dress goth and get followed around in a store...who cares? Just politely tell them you're offended, don't plan on giving them any business, and leave. They'll be sorry.
Mallgoths have every bit of right as anyone else to wear what they want, listen to what they want, and call it whatever they want.

Fixed that for you

Yeah. Unless they are personally bothering me, I don't really pay much attention.

I don't like the effect they're having on the local club scene. I don't like when they desperately try to impress me/get my attention when I'm out in public. I don't like when they come to my club and request stupid things like Korn. But I accept that most music scenes have some artificial, mainstream, mass marketed counterpart and goth is no different. So while it does impact me directly, I pretty much have bigger things to worry about.

Honestly, I haven't seen any mall goths. Well, maybe a few depressed people who happen to dress in an alternative fashion, but what you guys are describing is way out there.
It seems like who ever you don't like is a mall goth, just because someone said so.
I pretty much agree with Ophelia.

I let them be, an open and crative mind is what it's about, but if they ask me then I point them towards the light Siouxsie and lace, Peter and Rocks.
Well, my light anyway.

My impression is that people don't mind mallgoths as much as they mind being confused with them.

lol but yes, hm so a mall goth is someone talking out their ass basically? interesting. I don't think i qualify, i usually avoid calling myself goth, I think i did before i found out what it was truly (my bad). I don't know I like the art, literature, clothing, and some of the music, but I don't know i just don't feel right calling myself goth

I don't feel comfortable calling myself goth either. I still believe I'm Major Babybat, but the wannabe goths at my school ignore me because I'm not gawth enough for them. I despise it when I say there are no other goths there and my friends look at me blankly and say that there's plenty of goths here, look at that guy. In the slipknot shirt.
What makes me laugh is they remind of Christmas. With all the chains jingling. Sounds just like Santa.
