Does anybody read "Gothic&L***** Bible"?
What a day yesterday was! There was a Comic book and Entertainmet Expo in Calgary.
My daughter bought a whole whack of Manga anime books and I shopped around for bit to find something I really wanted.
Boy, did I ever find something, I found issues of "Gothic&L***** bible" and I love the stuff they have in them.
Now, I am addicted to reading them over and over to get ideas on what to sew for my upcoming projects.
Does anybody else read "Gothic&L***** Bible" too?
Oh, Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk), Ray Park (Darth Maul) and Richard Ricardo (Doc from Star Trek Voyager) were the celebrities there.
Lots of cool costumes and great deals on collectables.
I ran into some friends and met more Goths there too. It was a blast!

NOTE: For those who don't know about this magazine, it is a Japanese imported Gothic fashion magazine.

It isn't available here, as far as I know. So, no. I'll have to check into some alternative shop when I go home to Germany and see if I can find it there...

I know a few people who went to the expo. I went to Drumheller instead. We'll be at Otafest if you plan on attending that.

I was kinda hoping I would run into you there. oh well, next time.
I do recall hearing about that Otafest. You may have to keep me updated on that, if you don't mind?
It is rare to find this magazine, however, I had a friend that subscribed it and it took months to get in the mail from Japan. I guess this was a lucky find, like a treasure hunt in a antique store.
I do know that are websites showing pics from the magazine too, I can try to find the links and post them later on if anyone's interested?

When you post links, you have to separate part of it with spaces.

Turned off by the name of the website because it has the word "l*lita" in the title. It seems like it might contain sick material somewhere in it.

It does bother me too, however, I hope I wasn't giving anybody the impression of being a pervert by reading this Gothic fashion magazine.
I wished they had it in seperate titles or something, but I do admire the Gothic fashion part.
I do read "Gothic Beauty" as well, even thought I did expect more especially when the mag is out 4 times a year. hmmmm.

I bought a GLB in a manga convention some years ago. I like the style, it's so adorable >.< The only thing that I dislike about it is that it seem a bit... "frivolous" at times (maybe it's just my impression ^^U).
I have never read "Gothic Beauty", but I wish I could, everybody says it's cool.

If you're referring to the look as frivolous, that's the point.
And you can buy Gothic Beauty magazine at Borders and Barnes&Noble.

I just scored a copy of the Goth-Loli Bible this weekend. I wanted to see if I could design a really cute dress before I lost my dolly good looks.
I think the whole point of being a Loli *IS* to look like a doll (those little porcelain ones that go in a display case. Dolls have a rather frivolous life, what with their tea parties and dresses and the like. So if the fashion seems frivolous, that's the point.
And Vako, of course there are a bunch of sickos that are attracted to the whole Loli look, but the magazine itself is presented rather elegantly. It serves as a guidebook for those who want to dress as a Loli with makeup tips and places you can buy the look, and it even has full-size patterns for those who sew.

The reason I got some copies of this mag was for the Gothic part. I am not exactly a fan of the Loli look either. I don't understand why they had to have both in the same mag.

I know, right? Atelier Boz is one of my favorite design houses. But it *IS* called the "Gothic and Loli.ta Bible"...
I wanted to try the Loli look because I realized that while I still have a baby face I would make a cute doll. But I'd only do it once.

I collect them, so in a word, yes. I'm pretty much obsessed with the loli.ta fashion. I think it's really cute, but it's expensive, isn't it? I've been dressing this way for two years or so, and I only have 9 or so outfits. *sigh*
And yeah, probably the worst part of the fashion is the name. Everyone assumes it's like...slutty little-girl clothes, which is ridiculous. Actually, the book L.olita wasn't meant to promote pedophilia, and Lo preferred to dress casually anyway. So how did that word come to be shorthand for pedo bait? Didn't it mean 'young girl' and only that back in the day, no sexual connotations attached?
