not allowed...
It's not that I just want to be called "super goth" or whatever... But I'm really amazed by the "goth" clothing, the tattoos, piercings... I'm just not allowed to look like I'd like to look. My parents aren't very conservative in this point, but nevertheless they don't let me express myself. (I'm already happy that I'm allowed to wear black and my boots.) They say, I'd look like a slut or things like that - even though it's not true. I'm not even allowed to have black hair.
And when I mentioned a piercing they totally flipped out! I'm [Isixteen[/i]! I don't visit a catholic school or so, don't have to look sophisticated at work (Well, I wouldn't wear my boot there either xDD), but I don't even can dress myself as I'd like to when I go to a party...

Boo fucking hoo. Another one of these God damn threads?
Listen, little tits, you're under their house, you're under their rules. Your Mom had the misfortune of farting you out of her vajay, you ruined your parents LIVES, spoiled little asshole. Now yr Mommy has her fallopian tubes flapping out her yazuzu, your Father is going bald because his Hot Topic Li'l Missy won't pay them ANY FUCKING RESPECT FOR GIVING HER LIFE. Life isn't about looking "Super Goffix" [???], or getting tattoos or piercings. Go to school, do what you're fucking told until you learn that this life isn't all about YOU, and then and ONLY then WILL it be about you.
You make me sick, you putrid, pathetic, whingy little worm. You are a dripping pustule, complaining about a parenthood that's doing you a world of fucking good, and all you can do is moan about insignificant bullshit. Take a look around you, you think Helen Keller, a deafblind suffragette and socialist, complained that Mommy and Daddy wouldn't let her get a piercing? Bitch had a fucking stroke and all she could do was make funny sounds at people. I'm telling Naomi Wolf about you, and she is going to hunt you down and make you give up your uterus for bringing down the average IQ of the female population.
Also, this should be in "Whining."

As for Daemonne...I was kinda in the same situation as you when I was your age...as far as piercings and tattoos go... Don't even think about it...your sixteen and you still live with your parents so abide by they're rules until your 18. As for the clothing... try to do it slowely...don't just jump into dressing completely goth cuz it will scare them half to death and they're going to think they're daughter is a satanist... so ease them into it... I'm 21... I've always dressed goth... but my parents had to get used to it...and I didn't get my piercings or tattoos until i moved out which was just a year ago... i know its a wait for you...but your gonna have to deal with it.

This should be in whining and as harshly as he put it Duckie is right, you are under their roof, they are talking care of you and they get to decide what you can and cannot do. If you want to dress a certain way but your parents don't agree with it then sit down and talk with them, maybe they will be okay with some things and not others., sometimes showing them pictures of the look you are going for may help so that they judge for themselves whether or not it is something that they find acceptable for their sixteen year old to wear. As for tattoos and piercings well lets just say that they are a big deal, yes even just a little piercing can have big repercussions, most common are infections (some of which turn serious) and scaring, depending on the location you could be looking at a life long scar and they don't always end up looking just like a freckle.
Yeah you think that your parents suck for now, and hey maybe they do, but as long as they are putting a roof over your head (whether you are in their home or not) then they get their say, no matter how unfair you think it is.

Duckman's right.
They need to sign for you if you're under 18 at any RESPECTABLE parlor anyway, so shut up.

@Not Tha Duckman
You don't know anything about my parents or about me... You have no idea what kind of people they are, how they treat me, what our life is like. I didn't say anything rude about them either, was just talking about clothing. Also I wrote that it's not about being oh-so-goth! And I was not talking about getting a "goth" right now.
And well - it's a fashion forum so I though it might be right in here.
Very sorry about wasting you time - at least you could practice conversation rules in an internet forum - respect.
(Oh and I have to say that some things might sound different from what I wanted to say - it's because of the language difficulties.)
------------
Oh and thanks for advices...

You may want a piercing, but you do not need one. Respect your parents' decisions.

Alright. Tell us about them. Do they mistreat you?
If they weren't nurturing enough, shouldn't you be complaining about THAT instead of clothing?

We all know the top priority of you kids today is to piss off any authority wielder you can find but the fact of the matter is, the wait till your older spiel is basically to start when your parents' opinions no longer have any weight upon you and your desire to shock fades away. (Read: When you get your head out of your ass, gain some maturity XP and realize that you don't need to dress like a supporting character of Gloom Cookie to be a well rounded human being and there are other dark colors besides black)
If you are that desperate (I don't see why as you take this time to build one hell of a music collection), try to bargain with your folks. Say, you can earn yourself a leather jacket to paint or money to burn on a Moi-Meme-Moitie skirt if you get straight A's or a high GPA.
If you're not willing to try to meet them halfway or listen to us, HO SIT DOWN.

Just do whatever you want. If you parents start complaining, look them in the eye and say "Fuck you!"
Let me know how it works out.

Lol. My parents don't know about some of my piercings, they never see me with my shirt off . . . *giggles*
But yes, do respect your parents, because it's cheaper than finding a place to live at 16. Which sucks.
And the only visible piercings I have are my ears, which my parents don't have a problem with. The rest are hidden by clothing :P

I'm 13, at first my parents weren't the most excited that I was goth. I wasn't allowed to wear most things chains/pentagrams/boots/etc. So I eased into it. I didn't complain though. One thing you learn is that parents are very overdramatic.
To help them accept the change you could actually try explaining the gothic subculture to them. Once I did this my mom didn't freak out everytime I brought up something like "I don't want to wear converse anymore, I'm gonna save up for some boots. And I'm gonna ask for goggles for my birthday, no sunglasses". Of course though she's still not happy about things like the cyber/industrial EBM gasmasks, or spikes, or really high platforms. But somethings you have to wait until you're 18, or out of their house to have. You're lucky you're parents even let you be gothic, I know some kids that aren't allowed out of the house unless they have atleast liek 3 different colors on.
In conclusion, let your parents accept the change and slowly get into the gothic stuff, and it helps to explain what goth is.

^^ lol
My two cents...
1. You are still living with your parents as well as under age, you should respect their wishes... but at the same time, dont do it blindly. Try to figure their reason for not letting you wear certain things. I did this and found out that my parents sole reason was their own self image, not mine.... In points like this I would have to say to hell with them. Mind you this is not something easily determined and as such, it may take time for you to dicern this... Hang in there.
2.The "respect" thing, We all could use some lessons.... I had to type this post 3 times befor it didnt sound like a personal attack on anyone... Yes we ALL need to be more considerate, but at the same time, we're goths, known for detesting the rules and doing anything we can to oppose them....
We are at a conundrum.
