Russell Peters is a tosser. In terms of stand-up comedy, Stewart Lee, in terms of television comedy, the Thick of It, in terms of film comedy, In the Loop (film set in the Thick of It universe).

Stand-Up Comedy- Robin Williams is always a good laugh and I think he's coming out with something new soon.
Television Comedy - How I Met Your Mother; Spaced (Had Simon Pegg in it before he did Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz)
Film Comedy - I actually really like 'Stranger than Fiction' and 'Death at a Funeral' will give you some decent laughs.

I'm guessing it's films you're after? The Big Lebowski and In the Loop (you don't have to watch The Thick of It first, but it's awesome) are the only recent-ish ones I can think of off the top of my head. True Lies is hilarious ("Jump, Daddy will catch you!"). Dr. Strangelove and Harvey, although that's going back a bit. I won't insult you with things like Airplane, Life of Brian or Holy Grail. However I'd highly recommend getting stoned and watching Commando.

The only recent comedy I have seen that I didn't absolutely hate was Pineapple Express, but you have to be stoned and sleep deprived to enjoy it.
But yeah, I agree, movies (especially comedies) have been shit lately. Is anybody else just tired of that Micheal Cera guy, or whatever his name is, from Superbad? Him, Seth Rogen, and all of their ilk need to just go away. Dane Cook needs to just die too.

I did enjoy The Hangover.
I also like the new Pixar type movies. I think they are hilarious.
As for stand-up, Bill Hicks is my all-time favorite.
And TV, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is always good for a laugh.

I agree with In the Loop, The Hangover, Dr. Strangelove (of course), and the Pixar films.
I would like to add a couple of TV series: Curb your Enthousiasm, Black Books and The Mighty Boosh, if you are into weird stuff.

I watched "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" expecting it to be as bad as Knocked Up/The Hangover/etc., but I got some honest laughs out of it.
