gothic eating habits
so then, what would y'all consider to be "goth food". i want to cook a meal for my boyfriend and promised it to be goth. the thing is we are both vegetarian so blood pudding and VERY rare steak are off the menue.
so far all i can think of is dyeing it all black...
opinions please

The only things that are coming to mind at the moment are things like dead spiders and bat wings. Too bad nobody has ever made a Morticia style cookbook.

Neeps and tatties dyed black, hmm that sounds quite nasty to me. Just the simple color itself would make me hesitate. You could make Roman Black Broth/Soup but PETA would not approve. Blood sausage, blood pudding and no rare mutton. How can you fix GOTH food?!
It needs to be dripping I say! Dripping with the fluid of life. That has to be GAWTH.
But I guess just go with the black dye but I'd just prefer to eat something the way it came out looking...... I would just change the untensils and plates. Fix what you want and eat what you wish just like work on the dining setting. In these movies you never see then wheel out gothic like food.
Anyway.

I'll just say it.
There is NO such thing as "Gothic Food".
Really.
There is Thai, Italian, French, Cuban, Indian, Etc etc..
But there is just no such thing as "Gothic Food".
The End.

Just have sex with him, gothic style of course. Tell him it was dinner, and ask if it was delicious.

Anything I eat, of course, darling (waves hand airily).
Right. Off I go to have a very gothic banana and a very morbid cuppa...

You should bake a cake and put some thing nasty (plastic...thing) on top and at a side... "Hope you die soon, love you _______"
I did that for last year's Valentine's Day. Hope that is use full.

Nothing says 'goth' like tragically burnt toast.
It is dark like our black hearts.
Or black like our dark hearts, I forget.
Either way, it's the gothiest food on the market. Assuming there's some sick bastard who goes around selling burnt toast.

Liquorice?
Broccoli? Broccoli is the food of the devil after all.
Okay that’s not true.
Seriously though, I’m with Cannibalnuns and Xnguela, it’s all in the presentation. You can have a Gothy type atmosphere and eat in a Gothy type way (erm, sullenly, in silence, maybe not that romantic) and then it doesn’t matter if you’re not eating the very food from Lucifer’s own table.
Don’t you think it’s a bit unrealistic to expect you to make Goth food? Like Kosher or Halal? Last time I checked it was hard enough deciding what clothes and music were Goth, let's not get started on food!

GOTH FOOD?
I don't even know whether to cry or to laugh.
Ahh...broccoli and cauliflower are generally a few of my favorite vegetables.

You make a black pudding.
You make a pudding so dark it's a black hole.
Which could of course potentially ruin dinner.

Gothic food? Silly question! Everyone knows goths don't eat. They just drink absinthe.
Seriously, a goth meal? *shakes head and rolls eyes*
Next, someone will be asking which kind of soap is gothic.
Or which type of nail clippers.

Just marinade everything in absinthe. That'll gothy things up for ya.
Ooo! And very black coffee! And licorice-- it's black AND tastes like absinthe! And devil's food cake! Make sure to stick cloves in everything, too.
You could crucify your vegetables with toothpicks and squirt them with ketch-- I mean blood.
Would absinthe jello work?

So much flashing. Does that mean boobs are goth food?
If so, where do I sign up to be a goth? I sent off for the forms, but they still haven't arrived yet... bloody bureaucracy.

This thread is so funny. I agree it is more about the atmosphere, get some nice bleeding candles and some red wine if you like it as that always is a lovely atmosphere without being ott.
If you are really wanting to do 'goth' food how about buying some black spaghetti? You can normally find it in delicatessences, although it isn't strictlly vegitarian as is coloured with squid ink so that is probably out. Sorry that wasn't very helpful. Just make a cake with lots of food colouring and maybe little bat shapes or a spiderweb on top

I don't see why not - it wouldn't be vegan, but squid ink must be vegetarian, right?
