I was searching something that was in the name of a thread on here, something about DIY and it showed me this site as a link.
I clicked it, explored the site, loved it, and joined.

I think that I mistyped another website's address and was redirected here.

I joined the Gothic Beauty (magazine) message board a few years ago and after a year of absence I found it closed to all but patrons to their annual gothic cruise. Then, like the many, I turned to Google to aid my crisis.
As far as actually joining, half the members here are genuine in their 'gothness' and if you sift through the cut-throat responses you find all the missing pieces to the puzzle that is goth subculture.

I thought that was awesome enough to warrant posting in the Literature forum!

I don't know what you're talking about Humane, because I never posted that. It doesn't exist!

eh... i was researching something for my own character design. I wanna try something a bit different, so I kinda typed "Chinese Goth" O_o.
It kinda lead me to a topic in this message board related to that... so I decided to explore and ended up joining.

Meh, it's not like I have goth friends irl (a few cyberfriends maybe). So I'd like to lurk around here to see what 'Goth' really means in different perspective (since I am somewhat labelled as 'goth' by fellow coursemates without even hard trying to be one)

Goth With a Sledgehammer, which is now full of fail. hah

That and Corpsey's devilishly handsome exterior sort of drew me to the site without my knowledge... just sayin'. :P hahahaha

I was looking for a specific pair of boots, and I guess some people were discussing those boots in some fashion thread. I lurked for a while after that, and now here I am.

Originally, the site started as a collection of various other goth sites, ezines, and homepages for a select few people (mostly from EFNET #Gothic), DJ's, and g/i clubs.

Weaselboi had it running on a server on his own T1 at his house.

I had my homepage (and a few other projects) here before Weasel sold the website and it became the entity which everyone knows today. Oh the stories I could tell of the 'good old days'...

I found gnet through google though I cant really remember exactly what I was searching. Heh I doubt I would of come across this website during the "good ole days", at age 13 (I was 13 back in 2003) I hadn't really even seen a goth much less heard of goth. Heck, I dont even think I really listened to music much at all back then, I grew up listening to NPR and classical music, I've always wondered what growing up for most people is like.

I think I remember owning our first computer in 1996. It was the coolest thing ever to have dial-up back then.

Well then most certainly I did not even stand a chance of finding this website back then. Not even my school district had internet back then much less my family who didn't even have a computer anymore, I apparently when I was young ruined our first one, and it was certainly not capable of handling websites. We didn't get our first real computer until 1999 and it would be years untill my parents got the internet.

I was bored and lonely on the internet, and stumbled across this site thinking I could find fantastic people with similar interests as me.

It never really worked out that way, but for some reason I keep poking my head back in every once in a while.

We got our first computer in 1987, it was an Apple IIe, and it had this little game where a bunny had to go through a maze to find a carrot; only one day the bunny got stuck in a corner and as I pounded on the left arrow key, it fell through a hole in the pixels and that's how I found gnet 22 years later. True story.

Or it might have been a google search, now that I think about it.
