Welcome!
You're our first newbie after some technical difficulties, and I have to say that I like you!
I love the music style.
By the way I hope that your eating disorder will fade away. I was on the verge of being anorexic once, and it's not a pretty feeling.

You know, when I read your list of movies I was very worried and lost all hope for you.
But, then I read your music list.
What a comeback!
Welcome to Gnet.

Yeah sorry about the movies I don't watch much. I stole most of my favourite bands from my mums collection when I was little.

Haha, cool. In any case, if you like cinematography, I reccomend you to watch Citizen Kane. There's a reason it is the number one movie of all times.

I'll check out. I'm usually more interested in how movies are made and graphics rather than actually watching them.
And thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Welcome. Do you write? Since you are thinking of majoring in music, I assume you may have written lyrics at some time. You would be welcome to post them in the Literature board if you have written any.

I've tried to write lyrics but I'm never satisfied with them so I prefer to play guitar and bass & maybe one day violin.

Can anyone suggest any good movies (not too much horror I find they affect me mentally) and any good bands that I haven't mentioned, I am happy to listen to anything.

Have you seen Harold & Maude yet?
How about Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?
Marie Antoinette? (the soundtrack features Siouxsie & The Banshees)
Palindromes? It's fucked up, and I mean REALLY fucked up...
Also, if you like hilariously bad movies, might I recommend Bloodrayne? Anything by Uwe Boll will do, but that one's particularly hilarious.

Hilariously bad movies you say? Hold on, I'll find a clip from what has to be the worst movie in the world. I didn't see it, but I think I can find some parts from it.
Edit:
Ah here it is. Taken from another forum:

Oh no, the movie which I am disscusssing is a very poorly known cult film called "Komodo Vs. Cobra." It's just horrible. The acting sucks, the scenery is awful, the computer graphics I could do with my hand down my pants and my keyboard destroyed, and the story line is so incoherent that it makes me want to vomit.
here is a quote from the most beautifly written piece of screenplay ever made:
Capt. Michael A. Stoddard: Ok, people, we're shoving off. Get comfortable. It's going to take a little while to get there.
Jerry Ryan: How long, Captain?
Capt. Michael A. Stoddard: About a three-hour tour.
Sandra Crescent: Where have I heard that before?
Oh it gets worse... much worse.
Ok so here is the boxart:
You are probably thinking "oh those graphics aren't THAT bad right?" WRONG! Imagine that about... you know what? It would be easier to just show you:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROOyUtvdbRM
Such great acting. And that's the GOOD scene of animation. You should see the mutant corn... ooh god. notice when the dragon eats her she doesn't move at all? And what a great ending scene! Yeah, he was presumed dead about a quarter into the movie and was sprayed with dragon saliva. The bullet effects are to die fo aren't they? And when did cobras have fangs on both top and botom of their mouths?!
Now it's your turn. Oh good god I can't wait.
|
Also, it seems you have to have 10 characters after your last quote in order to post.

Oh, come now... just because these films are popular in Hot Topic doesn't mean 'mallgoth' by default. How many goths out there *also* like Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride and Sid & Nancy?
[hands go up, mostly all of them]
See what I mean?
From Hell is a less commonly named film, so we won't ask about that one. But I think 'mallgoth' movies are more along the lines of Blade, Underworld, Queen of the Damned, etc. You know, ones with lots of violence and blood and soundtracks that often include 'mallgoth' bands. And yes, we know a number of you like those films too.
Now then, how many actual goths actually like Slipknot and so forth?
[very few hands go up]
That's about what I thought. Class dismissed.

I HATED Corpse Bride.
And looking back at Nightmare Before Christmas, it's not a great movie either.
Enjoyed it as a kid, but it has lost its magic now.
As for Sid and Nancy, I have never seen it.
Actually, I don't like any of the films you named, SKot >_>

I liked the imagery in Corpse Bride, if not the plot or the annoying maggot... The pictures are pretty.

ooh love nightmare before christmas and liked corpse bride (she's sweet as candy )
and to make my mallgoth image complete i love the crow 1&2 (oh brandon lee) and interview with the vampire
But now to increase my reputation and to give some good movie titels to interested persons:
Apocalypse Now
FightClub
Matrix I
The Crow I
Band of Brothers (the serial i am never sure which one is which)
Alien I (just forthe cult factor and Ridley Scott and her cat (is her name right? Ayee and HR Giger's design which rocks like whatsoever)
A Clockwork Orange
All quiet on the Western Front (and read the book!)
Hitler's Downfall (the english subtitles suck -.-)
and so on...
