Are There Any New Bands People Care About?

Growing up there were songs that everybody loved and listened to... looking around it is as though only a handful of bands exist at-all!

There is Muse, My Chemical Romance, Paramore and Tokio Hotel (and yes I noticed nobody really seems to like Tokio Hotel).

What's up? What's the new meaninful music? It seems like everyone still listens to music that was new over a decade ago: Slipknot, the Disturbed, Crazy Town and so-on. Through not popular anymore I enjoy the Violent Femmes a lot. There are some other bands too like tons of stuff and I recognize I listened to older music as a teen too. Depeche Mode was making the hot couples songs and so-on, but there must be something more like that song that everyone listens too?

I have an awful sense of humor so even while writing this cannot think of one Goth band but "Mark Moe" by Deadeye Dick and "If you see Kay" by Poster Children are like the sound track of my teen years.

I think everyone has new bands that they care about. I think Catch is out of the loop, especially if she thinks everyone is listening to the bands she mentioned all the time.

Off the top of my head, I can list at least 4 artists and bands that are kinda new and I'm digging.

BTK Band
Joe Yoga
Joe Buck Yourself
Kill The Band

And there's always the numerous Deathrock revivalist bands that come out of the LA scene. Not to mention the interesting directions that psychobilly and rockabilly are going in NYC.

Catch, you are stuck in the year 2004.

These aren't necessarily new bands but they're new to you. I dunno if you'll like the genre, but I don't give a fuck. Give em' a try.

This is a good thread for me - I must confess to being somewhat stuck in the past when it comes to music. I do listen to quite a lot of newer stuff, but not very much that's actually current. So recommendations pertaining to good bands making music now are very much welcomed.

Les Discrets and Amesoeurs are two really good recent French post-metal groups, palatable to non-metalheads. I really got into MGMT somehow.

Dead Confederate are okay, too...

This is an article about a really interesting band with a down-tempo electronic sound called Early Spirit. The song 'For The Stars' is definitely worth a listen. http://www.anewbandaday.com/2011/01/...g-endgame.html

I don't know any new bands, at all, I've been stuck in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. The newest bands I know of have been around since 2001-2003, not really new anymore.

I really like that song that AD posted about Skyzoo. I love it when bands and musicians throw in lo-fi noise in their music.

I don't know. It seems as though new bands are not really being as appreciated as much as they used to. Talking about 2004 I like Glideascope, yet they are not really considered new, it's just no one has really heard of them.

Well, at least Comedy isn't Better.

Okay, here is a band that I like and believe qualifies as Goth.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Xo1icGf0ZI

What do you all think? They are called Toyo Tsutsuli. The imagery is mocobre and his voice is nice. It is mostly electronica leaning toward electronica or Industrial Lite. Mmmm

Right now I've been slightly obsessing over The Dead Weather, they're not super new, but still. Slim Twig and Peter Doherty compose good music, as well. I also enjoy listening to some stuff by CocoRosie.
