Introduce yourself!...Right on!

Damn, now I have an annoying Faith No More song stuck in my head even though I haven't heard it in years (decades even). Ok, truth be known I kind of like that song even though it's lame and annoying.

Anyway, on with the show...

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)

I work in shipping/receiving in a bookstore. Interests come and go, but reading and listening to music are always a constant. I'm currently interested in making art dolls and playing with the molds from the 1960s Mattel Creepy Crawlers (aka ThingMaker).

3. Who is your favorite author?

Like I said, interests come and go. Currently Terry Pratchett and Chris Moore.

4. What are your favorite films?

My Man Godfrey, LOTR, Spirited Away, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Matrix trilogy (yes, I actually enjoy all three films...mock if you must...)

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?

Don't know, but I think Sinatra singing "The Best is Yet to Come" should definitely be in there.

6. At your funeral?

Why do I care? I'm fucking dead aren't I? Just play The The "Love is Stronger Than Death" and then whatever else makes you happy.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?

Either in my sleep or in some bizarre accident that kills me instantly...or anything that kills me instantly. I'm a coward and I hate pain.

8. What kind of casket would you want?

No casket. Cremation. Scatter my ashes where ever...What I'd really like is a sky burial - where they cut you open and leave you for the birds to eat...but that seems unlikely to happen.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?

um...anything comfortable and non-restricting.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?

I don't. I was a miserable little kid. I'm much happier now.

11. What's your favorite band?

My favorite singer/songwriter is Tom Waits. Since this is a goth site, maybe now is the time to mention that I'm not a goth, but do like some of the usual suspects, namely: Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, The Cure, and The Damned.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?

I'm a junior college drop out, but I have a PhD in apathy.

13. Why did you join?

Well, I originally followed a link here because I was looking for information on the sizing of Demonia shoes. I then started looking around and decided I wanted to say something to Naunet. However, I now see that someone else has made the point I was going to make. This means there's no need for me to be joining except for the fact that filling out this questionnaire is a good form of life avoidance.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?

Female...and if you're curious about age, I'm 44.

Did you read that last line right? She said she is 44 years old, not 14.
It's kinda nice, though... we need some older people here to bump up the maturity level.

Just youtubed Tom Waits, he sounds a lot like Bruce Springsteen, but that's cool. I like Bruce Springsteen.

Ah ,damn, I misread. Any Tom Waits fan is cool, but I would have been amazed at a 14 year-old fan.

The song is actually called Introduce Yourself. It's off they're second album (which according to Wikipedia came out in 1987). The singer was a guy named Chuck Mosley at the time.

I really need to check out Mr. Bungle. I've heard good things about them.

Thanks for the welcome.

I agree a 14 year old Tom Waits fan would be quite interesting to meet.

He can sound like Springsteen but there is so much more to him than that. Try looking for the songs "Cemetery Polka" or "Jockey Full of Bourbon"
Those are two of my faves.

Edited because I spelled than with an e. Sheesh!

Grausamkeit, thanks for the welcome.

I hope I'm not annoying anyone by doing the multiple posts so I can quote people. I'm trying to reply on an iPod touch because I'm too lazy to go into the room my computer is in.... I probably shouldn't admit to that.

Nah, that's okay, hun. We know you're not being a moron.

I'm more of a fan of Patton with FNM and I love 'Angeldust'. I think that was their best album, personally.

oops! Didn't mean to imply that I was a huge FNM fan. I had their second album and I think the one after that (in fact, I may still have them in a box somewhere with the rest of my vinyl) , but I never went further than that.

This conversation has reminded me that I want to check out Patton's stuff though. I remember a few years back I was listening to something at work (I think it was Shriekback's album Glory Bumps) and a co-worker said he liked it and it kind of reminded him of some of Mike Patton's stuff. hmmmm...maybe I should just go visit youtube now.

ape descendant, it's always nice to meet someone who enjoyed Spirited Away. Thanks for the compliment on the name. I was kind of surprised that it hadn't been taken already! lol

Oh. My. God.
I just watched an 8 minute video entitled Moonchild, Mike Patton solo. It's nothing but him vocalizing. It's AMAZING. I'm sitting here with a big ol' smile on my face because it made me sooooo happy! Thanks for bringing him up.

p.s. the Shriekback album is nothing like the Mike Patton track I just saw. I most go back to you tube and see what else Mike Patton does.

Welcome!

I dated a man for several years whose singing voice was remarkably similar to that of Tom Waits. He used to sing Jersey Girl to me when I couldn't sleep. Lovely.

LOL@Graus.

Welcome, MAT - loving the sky burial idea. And the fact that you have a PhD in my moms... although I guess that means I'm screwed if we hit a "YO' MOMMA" situation. ;p

I wish I had some clever response to this, but I'm laughing too hard to be able to come up with one!
