The firefighters were slowed down because of ammonia leaks? WTF? Ammonia at a food processing plant? And I learned ConAgra owns Slim Jim. I'm going to start searching other food products owned by ConAgra.

On a side note, i've never been a fan of Slim Jims. They taste like slightly meaty cardboard. If I crave beef jerky, I usually go for Jack Link's.

Humane: among other things, ConAgra runs an onion dehyrdration plant near where I live. Beyond brands, you've got to think of ingredients as well. How many soups, seasoning mixes, box dinners and sauces contain dehydrated onions? As far as I know, companies have to tell you nutritional info, and list ingredients, but they do not have to tell you where the ingredients came from. Dehydrated onions sound pretty innocuous, at least compared to the other multi-syllable verbal labyrinths on the ingredients list. Not only do you have to consider the foods manufactured by ConAgra, but also the ingredients they make that even their competition may use.

Ammonia is also present when stuff dies. They process a lot of meats, meaning lots of meat scraps go somewhere and wherever that is they have a lot of ammonia.

The ill-fated beef jerky was never able to behold the light of day (or my belly). Quite a waste of good meat. Good, chewy meat........
