My argument against answering trolls is that they exist just to see you reply to their intentionally irritating and moronic posts. If you answer them they have succeeded, no matter how witty or damning or hurtful your post was.
They go back to their troll hole and tell other how they totally got all the members of this forum riled up and interested enough to take the bait.

Like I said, once a teacher, always a teacher... That's how I dealt with similar attention seeking behaviour in my class. And when you've got over 30 potential little trolls, you have to have a number of cards up your sleeve!
