That's easy.

Buy something really stupid and really expensive ...and let the fail sink it

I highly recommend stuff like a set of golden dildos or justin bieber's hair.

I've become tragically addicted to Facebook recently. Mainly for the distraction it provides from school work - I'm so ADD when the internet's within reach. my flatmate offered to unplug it to help me concentrate and I had to bite back the urge to growl at her like a dog.

Get off Onyx's case... or I'll guano in your lunchbox!

Dude, everyone has their own crosses to bear, if it's a problem for Onyx then she has to deal with it, just like the rest of us have to deal with our own fuckin' shithouse problems...

Now where did I put those bat laxitives? I need a double dose of guano for Kontan's lunchbox!

Ebay is a ripoff anyway Onyx.

Hi, I've been addicted to fucking HEROIN for the past three years.

Unless you have spent all of your money, ODed twice in one week, had to give up your job, your apartment, and all your friends to move back in with your parents and go to rehab, shut the fuck up.

Kor - you're focussing on the fact that she used the word addiction? Come on, I know she's a moron, but seriously - there are things you could pick on that don't make you sound so goddamn pedantic. I sure hope you never thoughtlessly said "That guy, he crazy", 'cause there are people out there with REAL MENTAL PROBLEMS, you insensitive dickwads.

Frankly, if Fruitbat's not allowed to kick up a fuss based on personal experience in a thread about r.ape, I don't see why other people should get to bring their shit online and be a bitch about it.

She doesn't mean addiction to compare it to an actual addiction. If you all step back for a second, you can see that. I know because sometimes I have a hard time not dumping rage from personal experience, too. It takes a second to realize that something unrelated is getting the better of me, but I don't throw my dirty laundry on the forums after I do. Those two War threads from a few weeks ago nearly made me go ballistic, for example.

So yeah. Chill. Onyx didn't do anything wrong other then neglecting to acknowledge that e-bay is pretty tame.

I'm addicted to shopping for things on Amazon, where I don't pay sales tax as well as getting timely, free shipping from a reliable company. Oh wait, that's not an addiction ... that's just sensible shopping.

Hey - and YOU too, Kontan - only just noticed you did the same thing. You know, you can go all PC about word choice if you want... but you'd have to give up "faggotry". Somethin' tells me you ain't quite ready for that yet, boy.

Man I have an addiction to a UK clothing website ASOS - free international shipping - dam that website... dam it to hell.

So much easier to shop at midnight online than to tow babybat around the stores - he's such a man - he hates clothes shopping, but loves toys....LOL *sigh*

Oh and since we hit parity with the US, amazon is a reasonable place to shop - although the shipping hurts

At least to me, using the word "addiction" so casually is like saying "Hey guiez, I'm bipolar, because sometimes I get mad, and sometimes I get sad".. get my point?

Addictions legitimately range though. I'm addicted to caffeine, some people to nicotine, some to the dopamine rush they get when they eat.

I completely understand. It's just that "vice" isn't as common a word as "addiction," you know? It's an exaggeration by far, but I don't think an addiction is a common experience for most people. It's easy to take lightly.

Then, like I said, I hope you've never used the word 'crazy'.

Either you're too stubborn to admit you overreacted, or you think the world should stop for you because you've got a problem. Guess what, princess: it doesn't.

1) My post wasn't criticizing the choice of the word addiction by the O.P. ... it was just a stand-alone comment, which fruitbat got.

2) Casual use of the word addiction in this context is common in our society, and it doesn't rate the disparaging comments made above. In fact, it's become so common that it now shows up in the dictionary as follows:
Meaning:
1 : a strong and harmful need to regularly have something (such as a drug) or do something (such as gamble) [count] ▪ He has a drug addiction. —often + to ▪ an addiction to pain medication ▪ an addiction to playing the lottery [noncount] ▪ His life has been ruined by heroin addiction.
2 [count] : an unusually great interest in something or a need to do or have something ▪ He devotes his summers to his surfing addiction. —often + to ▪ She has an addiction to mystery novels.
3) There is such a thing as clinically defined shopping addiction, and while it doesn't rank in the same class of diseases/behaviors as drug or alcohol addiction, it is akin to gambling addiction. A person with a legitimate shopping addiction can ruin their lives, and the lives of the people around them, because they don't understand their own compulsive behavior. At a certain point, it isn't even about owning the things they purchase.

In the land of plenty, many of us would make fun of someone who claimed to have a problem with buying too much stuff, so it gets the same kind of stigma as men claiming they've been rraped or abused by their female spouse.

I don't feel that I overreacted, I was just trying to convey my frustration. There is a huge difference between liking to shop on Ebay and having to deal with something as serious as drug addiction. Am I being anal and overly-PC? Probably. Still entitled to my opinion, guiez. And I'm really not all that butthurt.
