Hey.

My first name really is Jon. My last name isn't actually Wane
(My parents' sense of humor is a little less corny than that).

I signed up here mostly for my love of old Post-Punk, Goth and Deathrock. I figure people will tolerate me babbling about that all the time here better than on unrelated forums.

I don't consider myself "a goth", though I do identify with various aspects of the subculture... The "mindset", I guess.

I was hoping that you were indeed the ghost of John Wayne, and that you would regale us with stories of your adventures in Hollywood as one of the most famous actors of all time.

However, my hopes and dreams were smashed after I read your post and when I realized that John Wayne's ghost would probably spell his name correctly.

Do you have a favorite John Wayne movie? Mine's "True Grit".

Honestly, "Jon Wane" was just my lame attempt at being funny. I am not a huge John Wayne fan or anything...

wane (wn)
intr.v. waned, wan·ing, wanes
1. To decrease gradually in size, amount, intensity, or degree; decline.
2. To exhibit a decreasing illuminated area from full moon to new moon.
3. To approach an end.
n.
1. The act or process of gradually declining or diminishing.
2.
a. A time or phase of gradual decrease.
b. The period of the decrease of the moon's illuminated visible surface.
3. A defective edge of a board caused by remaining bark or a beveled end.

I know it's incredibly lame and cliche, but it seemed fitting for a "Gothic" message board name and my own depressive, self-loathing and self-effacing nature... I typically try to discuss those things in a humorous light, y'know? Plus, it was all I could come up with on the fly.

If your last name was the same as John Wayne's your parents probably would have named you Marion.
