The Misfits are not talented. But at least they don't suck like the Ramones, which were also mentioned.

I've only heard Dust to Dust, and I thought it was a pretty good song.

But the point of early punk was that you don't have to be great. Everyone's said that. Dee Dee Ramone, & Joe Strummer just to name a couple. The point was to be raw.

Like the Sex Pistols, but at least they had the life and the attitude. The only thing the Ramones had that made them similar to punk was that they didn't use more than three chords in each song. The Ramones were the Blink 182 of the 70's.

....I get what your saying, but I don't know what evidence you are basing your opinion on.

Ok, for the record the Sex Pistols were designed TO SELL CLOTHES!!!! The Ramones were the first, and without them there would of been no Sex Pistols or Clash or whathave you. Yes, The Ramones were poppy but they were NOT the Blink 182 of the 70's. The lyrics the Pistols wrote were to shock people. I still love the Pistols but you need to know what actually happened.

The lyrics of the Sex Pistols were to shock people when shock was still an innovative way of waking people up. It served its time, and it was good. The Ramones did nothing but play simple music with simple lyrics, and how is this no different than Blink 182?

Because Blink 182 is a big corporate band that writes music for money. The Ramones were the FIRST punk band and opened so many doors for bands and started punk. Yes, The Pistols wrote lyrics for the shock value, but thats it. So many other bands wrote shocking lyrics and followed through, Crass for example. When Rotten said he was anarchist he did it for shock, when Crass said it they backed it up with action. You REALLY need to do your homework. I really dont want to argue with you over something as trivial as this.

I want. Crass is better than the Sex Pistols, and nothing beats The Clash.
Nevertheless, the Pistols were the first band whose music was truly punk. There was nothing political or socially relevant in the Ramones' lyrics. 'Punk' might have started in America as a sound, but it wasn't true punk until it matured in the UK.

Dude, I'm watching SLC punk!....

Anyways, it's music, no need for a discussion on what band started what, just sit back and enjoy it. That's my opinion

THANK YOU!
That was what I meant by what were they using as their base info. I just kinda wanted to see if they knew that the pistols were Viv & Mal's creation, so to speak.

There are several different styles of punk. You have your UK & Oi (depending on who you talk to all UK is Oi, but I don't buy that) punks, then the NY sound which sounds totally different from the LA scene. If you like the UK sound better, that's fine. It's just a different style from American punk. Both have their merit.

However, yes, the Clash are awesome!

I saw them when they came to Norwich a couple of months back.
It was an amazing gig.
Jerry Only signed my D.I.Y sleeve.
It can't be washed now.
It reeks of sweat from the gig.
Ohwell.
