Imagine working and living with the same 30 people everyday for a year in an area about the size of an elementry school. Knowing those people becomes intuitive with everything you do. What they eat, how they sleep... there becomes a point, sometimes, when you can identify what smells belong to who. How people find out about it becomes pretty clear to answer, yeah?
As far as why the military cares? It just does. It always conforms to conservative viewpoints, and things like adultery literally become crimes.

I dunno , maybe I'm being a bit narrow minded here , but I really can't understand why anybody would join the military. Personally, I'm not prepared to get shot at for any government, or fight for any government for that matter.

I get that living in a confined space you would get to know everything about a group of people, but wouldn't there also be some sort of unwritten agreement that you keep your mouth shut when you saw people doing private and personal stuff?
So how were they found out then? Someone squealed? (man that's rough and spiteful.)
