"Arma****geddon"

I know Marilyn Manson is most likely a subject of controversy here but his new album is sounding pretty interesting to me. I don't consider him goth or industrial. To me he just makes catchy rock and roll songs that have an interesting vibe about them. Say what you will, he's done a lot of great and inspired music and I consider myself a fan.

So anyways. I just got the new Revolver and he says he can't relate to his previous work anymore. He also says that the new album will have a more chaotic feel and will include accoustic guitars that have a louisiana feel to them, along with some witchy female vocal parts. He's quoted saying "The new songs really wipe the floor with any of my previous work".

Titles for two of the songs on the new record are entitled "I Want to Kill You Like They Do in the Movies" and "Armagoddamnmotherfuckinggeddon", that he says have absolutely no chance of making radio play. I'm betting on a lot of tongue in cheek lyrics with thrashy music.

Yep. Skold is out and Twiggy is back too in case you're REALLY behind on your info. Says Twiggy wrote all the guitar and bass parts to this one so it'll sound awesome. Twiggy's bass lines make every album he's ever participated in.

I knew about that, I'm not a hermit. Any idea when it's being released?

Probably within the first few months of next year. Says it's fully recorded, being mastered. There will probably be a single just before or shortly after New Year's.

Being a fan of his music for as long as I can remember I'm looking forward to checking it out , especially after having a hard time getting into "Eat Me Drink Me". Having Twiggy back is a huge step in the right direction plus I'm interested in hearing Mr Borland's input.

Yeah, Eat Me Drink Me wasn't that great. Does it have a title yet?

Wes Borland only played a couple shows. He didn't do anything on the album.

Eat Me Drink Me was a nod to older Rock, Goth and New Wave bands. I liked it cause I like Manson's slower songs and that's pretty much all it was. Slow Manson songs. It also was a spur of the moment album and not what he had planned. Remember the buildup with all the Celebritarian and plague era leanings? Expect more of that on this album. Eat Me Drink Me was more of an interim release/comeback album. I have a feeling that the new one will be a much bigger deal.

He might as well call it "Death Magnetic". They're both nostalgic fan-service albums.

I don't think so Draconysius. None of his albums has been like any that come before it. I loved eat me drink me and it was nothing like GAOG or Antichrist Superstar.

I'm interested in hearing the 'Swampy accoustic guitar' bits. That's definitely something he hasn't done much of.

I think he should just call the new album Marilyn Manson and leave it self titled.

Self titled albums suck. Just look at The Cure, it makes it seem like they ran out of ideas but needed the cash.

Alice in Chains, KMFDM('symbols' was considered self titled), Weezer, and Led Zeppelin(Zoso/4 was actually untitled according to the band). All great albums.

i have to wonder what's that supposed to sound like? Is he talking about Acid Bath's Dead Girl and Bones of Baby Dolls?

It would be funny if he did a Zydeco tinged song.

It's been awhile since i listened to any new Manson songs and from your description i think i may have to get this album.

Interesting, it's good to know things are running smoothly. From what Manson has said previously, I was under the impression the new album would be a return to the old style that I now dislike. It seems twiggy and manson decided they need to go in new directions, which is always a good thing. Female vocals eh? Hope it gives off a bit of a christian death or sisters of mercy feel. With that last album, manson seemed to be listening to a bit too much Christian Death o.O.

I pretty much hate Marilyn Manson.
I thought he said the same thing about his last shitty album.
But I'll listen anyway.

He didn't. For his last album, EAT ME, DRINK ME, he said it was going to be romantic; Dedicated to his new girlfriend, now ex, Evan Rachel Wood, with themes revolving around his personal life. Instead of being extroverted, like his more political and sociological albums, it was to be more about his personal life. So it was.

The new album seems to be the opposite of that. Instead of romantic and introspective, very dirty, chaotic and violent.

Oh, OK. I just vaguely recall him bragging about how great of an album it was and how different from the other stuff, so I figured him saying the new album wiped the floor with the others wasn't saying much.
But y'know, I'll listen to anything once.

The last album was a melodramatic heartbroken romanti-goth-esque masterpiece and I'm so happy it opened him to new ways to create musical art. I hope at least one of the songs on the new album will have a Sisters sort of feel because it's what I think of when I read manson with female vocals. Also did you know Manson compared If I Was Your Vampire to Bela Lugosi's Dead? Quite the ballsy statement.

P.S. Don't flame me about manson not being goth for fucks sake, I know. I'm just saying that album was really getting close.

Right on, Genocide!

I loved EAT ME, DRINK ME too. If I Was Your Vampire definitely lifted from Bela Lugosi (in a good way). The delay on the drums and the way he did the vocals were totally Bauhaus and it was a great opener for that album. I always loved Manson's more slowpaced moments so I really appreciated that album when it came out. It was definitely a nod to the goth genre. I may not listen to it very often but it definitely stands out.
