Kissing is awesome, though. I love to kiss.

Yeah, and I plan to stay that way. Is that bad? Too many chances you take with sex. That's all I'm going to say, so this doesn't blow into another argument or debate. After all, you know how we are.

I'm curious as to how you can hate it at all when you've never experienced it.

Personal reasons, Ophelia. Something to do with a family member, but that's all I'm saying.

I'm not dumping on people who do it, it's their choice. I was just voicing my perspective on the whole subject, that's all. Didn't mean to offend anyone.

Virgin here, too. And I like it that way.

I'm attracted to women, but I have personal and religious reasons for my stance.

Also...I don't want my relationship with someone to revolve around sex. Personally, I think that sex before marriage might well distract me from other important considerations, such as "is this woman nuts?" and "am I ready to be getting married?"

Also, one person I talked to said that it just shuts down the emotional growth of a relationship, and that really puts me off of it.

How do you know that you wouldn't like cutting off your big toe and snacking on it? You've never tried it.

Illogical argument to try to criticize a personal preference inferred from available knowledge.

I just had to say it. ;-P

Cute thing for you to say, except for one thing--your body is designed to feel pain from cutting off your toe.

Your body is designed to feel pleasure from sex.
Nice try, though.

Not only that--I didn't actually criticize anything. I was curious as to how she decided she abhorred sex without knowing anything about it.

In the future, please don't say I'm being illogical if you really don't understand what's going on.

Fine. How do you know that you won't enjoy eating some delicious Fool's Cap mushrooms?

The point is that you don't have to experience something to have an opinion upon it, whether pleasurable or not. L'Oiseau Noir stated that she thought it was disgusting, and you attempted to contradict her personal preference with an argument that cannot be applied to personal opinions.

She already stated why she didn't like it: she watched sex-ed videos. Did you read her post?

Actually, no I didn't. If you would READ what I said, you would know I said I was curious to know, not I think it's impossible.

Yuck.

I'm an asexual organism, ha ha.

So, either you didn't read through the thread, or you didn't like that reason, after which she gave you another.

I assumed that you read through the thread, in which case your statement could quite easily be seen as a poke at her preference.

Or, I realize that some people can see things in movies and realize that the things they see in said movies aren't necessarily going to be their own reality.

I don't know about you, but seeing things isn't always believing for me, especially with a subject so personal as sex.

Are we done with this?

No, I have to have the last word.

:-P

But now I'm curious...short of actually experiencing sex, what would you use to determine whether you liked it?

Nothing. Without experiencing it, you can't know. You can learn all you want, and watch people fuckin' but you'll never know for yourself. You can suppose you won't like it, and abstain, but you will never know for sure.

If one were to apply that logic to other experiences, one would therefore conclude that one cannot know whether one will like anything without experiencing it, just as I said before.

Even if something is potentially painful for someone else - as with the toe thing - there are those who get a kick out of stuff like that. So, again, how do you know that you won't?

The fact is that we make decisions about what we will or will not enjoy all the time, every day, based on what we have learned and seen. Sex is no different - it has no special attribute that makes it immune to the same logical processes we use to evaluate other things.

Let's change this thread's name to "L'Oiseau Noir's sex life" XD

Someday, L'Oiseau Noir will make love with someone wonderful and she'll discover one of thee most pure acts! Ahh!

I see your hand and raise mine with a full house of ho sit down.

With the topic at hand, I see no reason for it to be a bad thing provided that the parties involved show good common sense, safety, and understand that what works for some in regards to emotions may not be the same for them.

I've taken a short break from my own activities to not only get in touch with myself but also to see if I'm really ready for a long term relationship.

Out of curiosity, Ionic, but would you also expect the woman in your life to fall under your own convictions regarding sex?

You're still prattling on? Read Gothicus's post. It's a non-existent thing, so how could you turn a thread into something about it? It's about as logical as discussing victorian literature with someone who hates reading.

And that would be true. I'm pretty sure I never said I know for sure if I don't like cutting off my big toe. I said the body is designed to feel pain. I say what I mean. You cannot really know FOR SURE about anything before you experience it. You can have a damn good idea, but you cannot know. It seems you've come to realize you agree with me.
