Maybe if the forums had a little moderation there might be less of this and more debate. I'm not really sure of how things work around here with where the admin draws the line on trolling and baiting and such because I haven't seen any of it in action.

That was way back when we had mods that actually did their job, it just became way too much effort for a section that almost nobody showed any respect for

Some of the moderators cracked down on juvenile baiting and flaming and it didn't go over very well with some of the long term members.

But mods are mods. Long term members, be they respected or nay, are still under the mods. For what reason did they object?

How about a mini-game section, with score boards for members of this site. They had one on this game clan site I went on, it was pretty cool.

Wondering why people can shill their Goth forums (forums that even have the same lettering as G.Net) in their signatures?

We're non-conformist.

Besides, what are the IMs you're speaking of? I don't suppose you mean PM? Because they were recently restored...

Probably because you're not a regular o.O

As for gnet upgrades, I'm seeing more admin activity. Which is awesome! Good work!

The PMs were restored like yesterday... to regulars, not newbies. They are easter eggs you have to unlock.

Anf there are other reasons, to be certain, but the admins are wading the waters and taking it one step at a time.

One thing I would like to see is a bit more focus on forums. Not moderating as in monitoring users, but in making sure threads are posted to the right forums and not duped. There are all sorts of threads now in the COMMENTARY forum that have nothing to do with commentary on the stories here.

Also, you find duplicate threads everywhere - some people choose to post stuff in GENERAL, others post the same stuff in POLITICS or SPOOKY NEWS.

It detracts from the discussion if you have three of the exact same discussion happening on three separate threads and different users in all three discussions.

Curious...why does the title bar of the website now say Gothic goth horror community? It was different before...and I liked it much better. We're not a horror community...though with these awfully gory ads, once could think so. *cough-hint-cough*

Yeah, how long are the massive ads on the sides of the screen going to be there? I really don't like them

Seeing as this forum is already under the Googlebot, why not upgrade it to a better style of forum? This is nice and all, but there are smoother running forums that have better admin control

Don't criticize the admin too much...they're actually pretty on top of things. You have to be on here a while before you see their power but you will!

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already (I did look around, but I'm horribly oblivious), but perhaps the Literature forum could be further divided. There could be one section for members posting their own writings, and a second forum for discussion of previously published works. I love discussing books, but such threads are impossible to find amid the deluge of "What do you think of my poem?" type threads.

Different EVENTS / Get-togethers in different states.
A chatroom type thing.

Just some ideas.

Thank you for the recent suggestions. Captain Sternn makes a good point about getting the correct threads in the correct forums, and we'll make a better effort to keep that in line. We have noticed the same issue in the commentary forum, and I think maybe the title of that section is not clear enough. As far as Gothic.net having a focus on horror, well, it's pretty much always had one foot in that genre, but it is not our intention to turn it into a full blown horror portal.

Some changes are on the way, btw. Nothing huge, but some improvements based on many of the suggestions here and such.
