Burton's movies remind me of Manson.
Not in the literal sense..just the fact that both fans run the subject in the ground.
TNBC wasn't really that impressive.
Corpse Bride was a rip.
But hey, that's just moi.

I feel dumb asking this... what is a rip?

Ya know. It ripped NMBC off.
Basically same plot/characters/songs.

Oh! A rip-off! That makes sense now. Sorry but I've never heard the phrase shortened before.
I have to say though, I didn't like the storyline of Corpse Bride. The music was cool though.

Don't feel dumb
"Rip" (slang)is short for:"Ripped off" meaning stolen ideas or thoughts.
-Does this help?

I like the visuals in his films, haven't seen Big Fish ,yet.
I don't think he's a genius, all his films look the same, but with different characters. It's merely eye candy for me.

My friend once told me that all of Burton's films have snow in them... How goth is that?

Xng, I do it sometimes. For me, it's a matter of emphasis. As in real life, I rarely swear. Once in a great while I use carefully chosen words that are near swearing, and people who know me notice. On those rare occasions when I full-on say a word like fuck, they know how serious I am and take stock.
Sometimes here, when I'm not being quite so serious, I'll type f*ck. It's not as emphatic.

I appreciate Tim Burton the way I appreciate the work of Stanly Kubric. I always looked forward to his (Kubric's) films. When I heard he was going to direct the film version of Stephen King's "The Shining", I was both apprehensive and anticipating the release date. When I saw it, my hopes and fears were both confirmed ... he definitely made it his own movie, but he was not a great match for the source material.
I felt the same way when I heard Burton was going to do "Charly and the Chocolate Factory." I had loved and thouroughly enjoyed Frankenweenie, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, BeetleJuice, and the two Batman movies. I want to see Sleepy Hollow (one of these days.) I knew he was capable of making a great remake as I really liked Planet of The Apes.
But I was concerned that he was not a good match to remake Charly and the Chocolate Factory (By the way, Dis, since both movies share the identical source material, it is by definition a remake. The movie titles are incidental to that definition.) Add in the fact that I truly loved the original Willy Wonka and in particular adored Gene Wilder's portrayal, and I was concerned about how the new movie would seem to me.
In the end, it was both what I hoped and feared. Tim Burton definitely put his own stamp on the film, and visually in many ways it is stunning. But I don't think he was the best match for this material. I think Johnny Depp is one of our finest actors today, but this performance left me cold. And I was even disappointed by the usually superb Danny Elfman score. Maybe it's just a case of liking the previous version too much, but I really did try to be objective.
And I can't wait to pick up Corpse Bride on DVD!

It could be if the the snowflakes were Andrew Eldritch shaped and black, then you would have gothic snow flakes, or would they be Eldritch flakes (or a gothic breakfast cereal).

I love Tim Burton! his movies are awsome. my favorite Burton movies are The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice (a very funny movie about being dead) and Sleepy Hollow (very bloody and very violent). Batman was good too. And since Johnny Depp stars in almost all of his films, makes them even better. I liked Courpse Bride but it can never beat the Nightmare Before Christmas, which is way better.
Mars Attacks was too weird to me

Though his movies make people who own the stuff go around saying stuff like "I'm soooo Gawfik", I still like them... A Nightmare Before Christmas was by far my favorite.

I love all of his movies. I never knew that half of the movies you people mentioned were ones he made. I never knew. Wow. I like Beetlejuice (that movie was hilarious), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and I haven't seen Corpse Bride yet, but I want to. I haven't seen The Nightmares Before Christmas in a while, but I remember I liked it. I love Tim Burton's movies. I probably like a lot more of his movies I just don't rmember right now off the top of my head.

To be completely honest, I'm not a Burton fan. Sleepy Hollow was alright though. I'd much rather watch old horror films with good ole' horror guys (Lugosi, Price, Karloff, etc).

I love Tim Burton's films! I liked Edward Scissorhand, Frankweenie, Vincent, The Nightmare Before Christmas, BeetleJuice and Corpse's Bride. I got inspired by Tim Burton's Artworks in The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy..
