My first day in highschool....
I felt that I should bitch about this.
Ok, first off, I got Joey [my cousin] to help me find my classroom [cause she's in 10th grade now and knows her way around] and I got there and got my schedule and got the fuck out. I heard the same BS procedures for all 4 of my academic periods. Break is 10 minutes long and I don't even know why the fuck we have it, it's over too quickly. I had lunch at fucking 1:30pm. I wish someone told me that, then I would've eaten breakfast....but no. On top of that, Chris [my cousin] and I got stuck behind some kid who couldn't speak a lick of english in the lunch line so we waited even longer. The lights in that building are so bright, and my eyes are really sensitive. So I was walking around the whole day with a fucking huge headache, feeling like I was about to pass out. Oh and science was a blast, the fucking AC broke just in that room. It was hot as balls in there. I don't even see why we were fucking in there or why they didn't open the doors or something to let cool air in. The only great thing about today was ROTC. That was fun. I met some really cool people and Master chief [I think they called him] was really cool. Chris was in there too and said I was good at it cause I don't move. I have no idea when we're getting our uniforms for ROTC though.
So yeah, that was my first day in highschool....

Oh, I'm sorry to hear it was rough.
It WILL get easier though. Not that much easier, but you'll learn how to manage.
High school can be a pain, but sometimes it can be a joy too.

That doesn't seem like such a bad day, aside from the eye sensitivity. Personally, I hope that I have a day like that- if that's the worst that will happen, things are off to a wonderful start. If only that would be the worst day of the year.
In any event, sorry you feel so crappy about it.

She hit her friend for that? Sounds like she has some anger management problems. I mean yeah it was a shitty thing for her friend to say but her reaction was more than a little extreme.

Dude.
You don't fucking HAVE TO.
Hitting people is never ok unless you're afraid of getting hurt and it's an emergency.
Even if you go up to someone and say "yeah well your dead parents are sucking cock in hell" or something like that...it's NOT ok for him or her to hit you.

ROTC in high school?!?! I've never heard of such a thing, and I'm the son of a Lt Colonel. From what I know from my father to be in ROTC you must have college credits or something like that (can't remember his exact words and he's asleep right now). By the sound of it it's the Navy ROTC you're talking about since they're the only ones with both ROTC the rank of Master Chief(the Coast Guard has the rank but doesn't have ROTC), but that would make no sense as the rank of Master Chief is that of a Non commissioned officer which by my assumption due to lack of adequate knowledge at my disposal is not qualified to train officers due to the fact that they never have to go through ROTC and are technically speaking not officers(though you should still salute them).

They have ROTC in our high schools here too. It's probably regional, as I think I remember there wasn't ROTC when I went to high school in California.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear it was rough. :/ Maybe in that science class you can ask them to open a door or ask for a fan or something..?
About breakfast: Always always always eat breakfast, especially when you don't know what the day will bring.
For the headaches: Be sure to take some aspirin or some Advil with you so you can take it whenever you need to.

Yeah, first day of any year of high school blows all the time. Thats just the way it is. The teachers actually have to tell you that exact same bullshit in every class, so you might as well get used to it. Take a nap or something Class usually starts gettting interesting at around week 2 or 3. Good luck.

At my high school they had JROTC. Maybe that's what Breathless meant?

It's either JROTC or CAP.

I do believe you have mistaken me for the OP. I just posted some sympathy and commiseration about how much the fist day of high school always sucks.
