Christmas songs

I know most here are grinches and would like to pretend they don't like Christmas, but can anyone recommend any good Christmas songs? Any classics? Has Peter Murphy ever done a cover of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas?

I suspect the reason I'm having trouble this year getting into the Christmas spirit is because I haven't been listening to Christmas songs, any recommendations would be appreciated.

Peter Murphy and Tom Waits did that one song. I still crack up every time I hear it.

Best Christmas song I've ever heard...... teary Irish maudlin-ness at its best. Beautiful.

Christmas wouldn't be so bad, were it not for the damned music.

I'm practically a reincarnation of Scrooge, I act like Christmas doesn't exist... A true feat when you live with a family who celebrates Christmas...

Dido's "Christmas Day" and Medevial Baebes's "Gaudete" are pretty good.

Is it? I love that song. It's my favourite Deadfly song.

Well yeah, that song is just a joke. Have you heard his new album though? Give Me Your Soul Please? It's a total throwback to his old style. Best guitar album of the decade. I love it. I hope they make another Mercyful Fate album someday.

Yeah. Melissa and Don't Break the Oath were classic. In the Shadows rocks too.

Yeah. I liked a lot of that one, especially "Never Ending Hill".

Awesome! Too many people have been putting it down. Good to see somebody else got the picture. Saw him live for the third time this year. What a great showman!

That isn't actually Tom Waits and Peter Murphy. It's some comedy band (can't recall the name) imitating them. It had me convinced too.

I actually like that cover too. Reminds me of a drunken Christmas karaoke party in which I serenaded a rather embarressed boyfriend.

Here are some alternate lyrics for "jingle bells"

Dashing Through the snow
On a pair of broken skis
Over the hills we go
Crashing into trees

The snow is turning red
I think i'm almost dead
I woke up in a hospital
With stiches in my head

Oh! 911, 911, 911 Awaits
Oh what fun it is to ride in an Ambulance all day.

911, 911, 911 awaits
Oh what fun it is to ride in an Ambulance all day!

That one has been around since I was very little. That and

Jingle Bells, Batman smells,
Robin laid an egg.
Batmobile lost a wheel
And The Joker got away, hey!

Weird what kids find find funny, eh?
