Indeed, now pardon while I go collect my mind from the gutter and quit over analyzing the phrase "bamboo rolling sheets." Dragon roll anyone? *snickah*

Well, with the aid of a chargrill pan, I can say...
Beech smoked Tofu, sliced, marinated in Teryaki Marinade then grill chragrilled to get bar markings, and allowed to cool makes for an excellent non meat/fish based Nigiri.
Has a similar texture to a smoked salmon nigiri, just a little more bite than "raw" tofu has because the cooking crisps the outer a little.
Nice smokey taste, and a little crunch. Next time I will cut the tofu a little thicker, so it isn't as likely to break trying to turn it after it sticks a little.

Oooh tofu in sushi? I've never tried that...
I'm not a big fan of tofu, because it is difficult to make tofu taste like anything at all... How long would you marinade it in the Teriyaki for?

It was only in the teryaki for about 20minutes - 1/2 hour.
Also, chargrilling it (for the bar markings), and using Beech smoked Tofu helped I'm sure.
It also helped dry out the curd too, as it can sometimes be a bit moist.
I made a stirfry with the rest of the Tofu block the next day. Again, teryaki marinaded. That worked wonderful too. Also, I added the remains of the marinade to the wok after all the vegatables were in too.

Beech smoked Tofu tastes so much better anyway. I much prefer it to the normal plane unflavoured kind.

Hell yes! My favorites are tamago, Inari, and anago. Oh god, sea eel is the shiz. And I've learned not to use so freaking much wasabi. I used to drown the food's natural flavor with it.

Sushi is the best. It's on my 5 way tie for favorite foods. Sadly since I don't go to my dad's grandmother's house anymore I don't get sushi at thanksgiving anymore. T_T I'd rather have shrimp, sushi, and eggrolls instead of gross turkery, stuffing, and crannberry sauce!

Yup, even though I look full blooded european, I have some Japanese coloring in me and a bit of the eye thing. My brother though looks like a fucking blonde haired blue eyed asian. Grrrr...scratch that, his eyes change from green to blue to grey to golden green/blue.

I've always wanted to try sushi but i'm a bit nervous about it. I think it's the idea of raw fish? . Is it actually raw? I dont really know anything about japanese culture or food.

Sushi actually isn't made with raw fish. It's cooked. Plus, it doesn't really matter if you don't know much or anything at all about the japanese culture...but food, thats a different story. I can see why you are a bit nevous about trying it; I was the same way.

I'm generally a picky eater....but give me anything Asian and I'll eat it.
Tuna sushi is the tastest, preferably with not too much wasabi.
