Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Old music revival?
One thing I have noticed recently, not just by watching, but by participating in, is a revival of older music thanks to the video game industry. Anyone who has played games like fallout 3 and or Bioshock knows what I am talking about. Gamers these days like myself are killing super mutants, and fighting big daddies to the tune of Bob Crosby, and Bobby Darin.
Frankly I can't seem to get enough of some of these songs, they're catchy, uplifting, and help out alot somtimes I think when you're down in an abandoned subway system inhabited by feral ghouls. But they also add to the creepy atmosphere like in Bioshock, where you're walking through Fort Frolic, and you hear how much is that doggy in the window, not knowing if some splicer will jump from the shadows, or worse yet the shadows jump on you.

Oh yeah I agree! Most of that stuff sounded really good and still do!
I am happy that they are dusting that old stuff off and bringing it back.
After playing Fallout 3, I downloaded the Galaxy Radio soundtrack. I listen to it often. Then I scoured Demonoid and found a whole load of songs from the 40's and 50's. I got them. They are lovely and upbeat!
What I would like is to see/hear is like a "continuation". People singing today with new equipment, but sing new songs written now. Songs that are new but crafted in the same old 1950’s pattern. Carry on where the 1950's artists left off.
Anybody see what I'm saying?

Yes, you want artists today to use their new instruments and abilities to recreate lame and cheesy "rock and roll" music.

Come on man, you have to admit that some of it sounded good.
Not all of it, but some of it was pretty good considering the time period.
Bauhaus wasn't around yet, or The Cure, T-Rex or Rudimentary Peni.

For some reason, I thought this thread was about Bach, and others' of that ilk.

Considering I really don't like bauhaus that doesn't mean much.

Bauhaus wasn't the only one I said.
Never mind, I think you know what I mean.

No, PJ, you're not alone. I don't like Bauhaus, I'm not too crazy about the Cure, and I can not stay awake for a Siouxsie album.
I r not goff ne moar.

I like The Cure a lot, but I can't stomach Bauhaus or Siouxie. I should have turned in the goth card ages ago.
