Mending Fishnets
Does anyone know how to mend fishnets or at least keep the holes from getting bigger, if there is any way? I just ruined my last good pair.

Painting clear nail polish on the frayed edges will stop the hole from becoming even larger.

I guess if they're large obnoxious fishnets you could tie up the loose ends. That would look a little tacky now that I think of it. You could burn the loose ends and melt them together. Do tights melt?
I have no idea.

Siouxsie's idea will work very well; as for mending the holes completely, I have never found a way to do that. Shrug and make it part of fishnets' charm.

I think they do melt. I tried to do that with my ballet tights and they went up in smoke, but then again, it might just be what it was made of.

Depends on the look you're going for I suppose. I tend to think ripped fishnets look sloppy. I'm not a fan of sloppy. Hence the whole deathrock look thing is just....not....appealing to me.

I sometimes like ripped fishnets, but most of the time, I just like them to not have rips and tears.
That clear nail polish suggestion worked. Will the nail polish come off in the wash?

Just touch it up every few washes and you should be fine

Crocheting is a lot of fun, but I think it would work much better for making an entire pair of fishnets from the beginning than for mending them. Mmm, and the best part would be getting to work your own little decorative elements in!

Yes, YES!! *evil laugh* I haven't really tried to crochet my own fishnets though... I haven't found yarn light enough yet..or string.. what ever you call the lighter stuff.

I think it would take not only a very thin thread, but one with some elasticity in it. I haven't found anything like that at my fabric shop, unfortunately.
