Subway beats McDonalds as America most popular fast food chain
An INCH of progress for the nation's obesity problem, but obviously not enough.

Wow! I would have never expected that. The article says it should come as no surprise but honestly, I'm not the only one to be surprised of this, am I?
hell, I can't believe there are that few McDonalds in the world.

Yick, subway subs are worse than the subs they sold back in my high school's cafeteria. Here in Wisconsin we have a very good sub sandwich chain that started here known as "Cousins Subs", it beats the heck out of anything subway serves. It's been slowly to expand unfortunately. Also theres always Quiznos but those subs aren't as easy on the waistline as Cousins.

Somehow, this really doesn't surprise me. I have no idea how closely spaced they are in America but I live in a town that has three Subway shops in the town centre, all of them less than five minutes walk away from each other. I have no idea why they think we need three so close together, do they think people are incapable of walking an extra few minutes to get a damn sandwich or something?

That seems to really depend on the location, some of them are awesome, some of them are beyond terrible, and you can't really tell so I just avoid them as a rule.

Wow! The Subway shops I eat at here in Houston are very good. I've been getting into the $5 foot long deals quite a bit lately.
Quiznos is fine, but you get less sub for more money. There's a small chain here I go to too that seems to load the meat on, but that's probably because it's local.
Honestly, Subways vary depending on where you go, but there are more restaurants here in Houston per capita than anywhere in the U.S. ... so you can't afford to be bad here or you won't be around long.

Hey, maybe this Super Chick Sisters game is why McDonalds fell off the popularity heap.
Who doesn't want to rescue Princess Pamela Anderson from McCruelty, all the while learning facts about McD's inhumane treatment of chickens? LMAO!
*edit* - On a side note, I love the fact that in the introduction story, Mario's cart has a license plate that reads "Mustache Rides"!

I would play that game if it didn't have chicks in it. As cute as chicks may be, I know what they turn in to and I cannot get over my fear of the evil beasts they become.

Probably because McDonald's is fucking expensive and you can get a whole 12 inches of sandwich for 5 bucks at Subway.

That game is just horrible. I played it for about five minutes and was appauled. Most of the "facts" that they used were complete and total lies. And i may be a McDonalds fan but what PETA did was just wrong.

It's PETA, the same fuckers who kill puppies instead of adopting them out, do you really expect them to be truthful?

I'm pretty sure PeTA is actually a meat group that wants to make vegetarians look bad. They had women dress in lettuce bikini and pass out KFC sandwiches, lettuce not forget.

I agree. PETA does want to kill everything cute in this world. How sad and pathetic that these people would stoop so low.

I watched that show "kill it, cook it, eat it" that's supposed to put everyone off eating meat.
I got hungry.

I didn't mean to spin this into an anti-Peta thread, although there's plenty of room for that discussion in the world. You all had pretty much the reaction I had.
In case anyone mistook my intent for anything but the humorous jab that it was, I was suggesting that you attempt the game a bit (as long as you can tolerate or until you cease to be entertained by the ridiculousness of it) for a laugh or two.
But to reflect seriously on the subject of this thread for a moment, Subway has invested a lot of time and energy in trying to promote themselves as a healthier fast food alternative ... and it seems that campaign has paid off.

I think that also attributes to its popularity, I do go there from time to time because its vegetarian friendly, more so than McDonald's is (when they had the "veggie" burger, it wasn't vegetarian, and their fries contain beef flavouring which lead to a lawsuit because they said they were vegetarian) so they also have the advantage that they can cater to people who have dietary limitations and well to people who are concerned about their weight/health. I don't think Subway is ideal (Iceburg lettuce is the devil, fact) but still an improvement.

Yea, I'm not a Subway fan. But mainly cause I worked at a good Dago deli that kinda ruined me for any other sandwich shop short of a good Jewish deli with monster pastrami sandwiches... Subway isn't too bad around here though from what I'm told. And definitely an improvement on Mickey D's.

I doubt PETA had anything to do with this...I mean they do KILL animals.
It's a surprise but at the same not if you ask me, they're both EXTREMELY popular but I think that Subway won everyone over with the establishment of the five dollar footlong (making your average six inch cheaper with arguably more quantity/quality compared to what you'll get at the dollar menu)...and bless them for it.
