Typically "goth" bands can be happy too! The Cure makes some pretty friggin happy songs once every so often... Perfect for dancing around like an idiot to.

I forgot to add Brian Eno's "Ambient 1: Music For Airports". It's so minimalistic, but just about the prettiest thing I've ever heard. Ambient 2 is great as well.

Mind you though, some of these bands (the first seven in my list) are Bubblegum Dance groups, so if you tend to hate that kind of genre, then don't check them out. Bubblegum Dance is an acquired taste most people avoid like the plague.

Half of what you named was what I was going to put up! I'll listen to Aqua while playing games online. I've been listening to Enya since seventh grade, so mellow to go to sleep too! There's nothing wrong with the dance genre, in my opinion. Everyone needs some bounce every now and then!

My other guilty pleasure is Outkast. I think they are great, and they are the only hip-hop related music I can stand. Oh, and I'll also listen to country every now and then. That's a leftover from my childhood.

wow, aside from the Amelie Soundtrack Xombie mentioned (much love for that) and the Aerosmith/Guns-n-Rose/to a far lesser extent the beetles mentioned by someone else, and the post by Stormtrooper of Death, all the music listed here would like kill my mood completely. It'd probably make me angry and violent. If I need a good cheering up, it's either The Distillers, Sisters of Mercy, or the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky. I usually hate "happy" music. It sounds dumb to me >_>

The Distillers have been my favourite band for years, cept I sort of left them by the wayside. My taste developed abit and they wern't really what I wanted anymore. I still listen to them every so often and they do make me feel better. Have you a particular favourite song?

Broadway show music can be happy or sad. It really depends on the musical and the mood. New Age music is happy 60% of the time (if you think positively), such as Enya, Loreena McKennit....that is happy, and also soothing. Then there's the inevitable Disney music that is sugar-coated happiness, and not in a good way.

Phantom of the Opera!
I've loved this show for years and when I went to New York recently I made sure I got to see it. It was the most amazing thing I've ever laid eyes on. That and Cirque de Soleil.

80s Synthpop like Erasure and Yazoo usually does the trick for me.

Quirky hybrid J-pop like Orange Range and the weird Techno/Rock combination of T.M. Revolution also strike a chord with me.

Oh, and Yoko Kanno's music is pure magic.
