Nay, that be Windoughs. I use the Woodwork visual style (install uxtheme.dll patch if you don't have Styler or StyleXP), RocketDock with the Wood theme, British Library icon set, Unison theme for Winamp, and Oil Slick theme for MSN (applied via Messenger Plus). The desktop is one I made from a photo of the ZMachine at Sandia Labs and a pattern I found on the internet. ( http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...achine1892.jpg)
jack_the_knife: Transparent windows and eyecandy win. I'm using KDE4. It's not as customizable as KDE3, but it has much much promise. I'll post a screenshot if I can ever get one uploaded. For some reason, both flickr and photobucket aren't working properly right now.
I'm also installing gnome as we speak. I like compiz better than KWin, but compiz doesn't work properly with KDE for me . But with KWin, one can make it snow on one's desktop, instead of rain.

Lethean: I love it. It's like making a thread titled "My Cock" and posting a picture of one's rooster.

LaBelle, my current favorite distros are KUbuntu (Hardy Heron), XUbuntu (Hardy Heron), Ubuntu Studio (Hardy Heron), VectorLinux, DamnSmallLinux, and Austrumi. Of those the only box that is actually in working order at the moment is the Ubuntu Studio. The rest are on machines that i cannibalized for parts to fix other's computers.
KDE looks great no doubt but i'm fanatical when it comes to system resources. Therefore i really like Xubuntu which uses xfce. Which is also the reason why i switched from using LiteStep to UTBox on my Windows machines. Usually UTBox uses about 800K to 1500K of my memory. It's not the prettiest alternative shell on the block but...i like it.
Photobucket is being an ass so i wasn't able to upload the bland Ubuntu Studio screenshot.

@tekajo
I tried to download UTBox but the site gave the "fuck you" and seems to have takein the downloads down, know where I might get it.
Also Litestep does look to sometimes take just as much resource as windows so I'm not so sure about it.
Last one I used was windowblinds and that was a pos back then and never tried another mod/shell again after so Id like to try one of these out.

Tekajo: Yay Linux! What distro do you use? I'm a fan of Kubuntu Ibex. It works very well and KDE4 looks awesome.
I will check out UTbox too. Does it work well? I've been looking for a simple freeware shell that I like. I've tried a bunch of different ones (including litestep, which I wasn't a fan of, and Talisman 2 and Aston, but I got irritated at them) and have ended up just adding on to explorer with things like RocketDock and Styler/Windowblinds.

I MUST ask, how did you get your messenger like that? I wish to share this great gift with you.

harlow, i think you'll have to see about a plugin called BBIcons in order to have your desktop icons show up. The plugin was created for BBLean but since UTBox is a "branch" of BBLean it should work.
i never gave it much thought since i hide my icons anyway.
