Where Does Your Political Compass Point?

With all the talk of political views lately on gnet I thought it would be interesting to see where everybody’s views really stand.

Political Compass Test

I found this great test recently. It's pretty compressive and there are six pages of questions ranging from different categories.

The test grades you on how authoritarian, libertarian, left, right and everywhere else in-between. The score is plotted on a XY-axis.

I found my results fascinating.

My Political Compass Results

My Economic Left/Right was –0.25 and
My Social Libertarian/Authoritarian was –2.36

I thought I would have been much more on the conservative side but according to the scores I’m very balanced with a slight side towards the Libertarianism. lol as a matter of fact one my best friends said to me recently that I was one of the most politically balanced people he ever met. I want to make it clear that I am no Switzerland or France. I believe force should be used when necessary.

My results are... drum roll please...

Before I took the test the first time, I thought I'd be much more liberal. But apparently, I'm not.

I can't even answer half of the questions due to assumptions implicit in them. Another reminder that political typologies are silly.

Well that’s because they are assumptions babu. They want you to see how strong you agree or diagree with each statement to see what kind of bias you have and if you can’t understand that then you are “silly”.

I think the party I can closest identify with is Libertarian, but even then...I can't really fully say I'm part of a party.

I'm with Drake, but I did it anyway. I found that many questions you could have answered either way based on different contexts.

I felt that this is very interesting, and well done, but I think it is flawed because it is very biased towards the Left wing. The website has an agenda.

There was no mention of Political originators such as Benito Mussolini, Francisco Franco, General Pinochet, or other such innovators, assholes they were, but I saw names on that chart I had to look up.

Well that’s because the website is mainstream but I don’t think it has a leftist bias. Maybe there is something I'm missing. What makes you think there is a bias?

The reason they don’t mention Mussolini is because (in my opinion anyway) they associated his ideology with Hitler’s which I know is not the case. The names on the bottom that you mentioned are all current world leaders.

According to that test I'm as much on the left as Mandela and as libertarian as the Dalai Lama.

Haha, Good company.

Ghandi is good. I think anarchism could never work, and i'm sick of seeing all the "punks" at my school wearing hot topic anarchy shirts. I wonder how they'ed like it if our society collapsed into anarchy? still, in my opinion its better than fascism.

I'm not sure that many political compass test would point where I truly believe. But here it is.

I was so sure it would label me closer to anarchy.

Eh. I'm with the Dalai and Mandela. At least there's manners when the plates are passed around at my table.
