Did your piercer not give you a care sheet? They should explain what to do. Anyhow, most piercers reccomend one of the following for cleaning solution:
saline + Q-tip (like you'd buy for contact lenses)
sea salt mixed with warm water + Q-tip (needs to me rinsed with warm so no salt gets stuck in piercing)
I use the sea salt mix when I first get a piercing, because it does a better job of preventing infection (IMO). Afterwards a few months I just use the saline because it's more convenient and less likely to get infected once it's healed.
Be very very gentle. Surface piercings such as eyebrows have the possibility of rejecting (being pushed out through the skin). Clean it at least twice a day, or even three times. As tempting as it is to do it early, don't put a new piece of jewelry in for about 9-12 weeks. Healing time varies by person, but if you have any kind of discharge or infection or bleeding - do NOT put a new piece of jewelry in yet.
Hope I've helped!

Sea salt soaks once a day (in the evening) are very good - mix a quarter of a teaspoon of sea salt into a mug of boiled water that's been cooled down so it's hot but not scalding... Get some cotton wool and dip it in the water, then hold it on the piercing til the wad cools down. Bin it, then get another bit of cotton wool and repeat. Clean kitchen towel works too, if you have no cotton wool.
Linen's advice is sound, except for washing "at least twice a day" - you should avoid washing it more than twice a day unless it really needs it (like you got mud on your face or something) because all that washing can irritate the piercing and make the skin around it get dried out, and damp piercing takes longer to heal than one that's kept dry. After the first couple of weeks when it's at it's crustiest (when you should definitely clean it twice a day), it's best IMO to wash the piercing once in the morning (during the night you may find it seeps a bit - a morning wash gets rid of that) and just to leave it alone the rest of the day.

A monroe is on the upper left, above the lip. It might be upper right.
They're getting popular; I hate them.

I assume one must only sleep on one's back to avoid snagging the new piercing on the pillow? I want to get my eyebrow pierced, but heard of people having the pillow aggravate it. O_o

Oh, those things. Right. I guess they look cute on some people, but most people I've seen with one didn't have the facial structure to match it - which made it look pretty bad

Um, yeah my friend did get her Monroe and I hate to say she didn't turn out to have the right face for it. Her eyebrow piercing looks great, the nose one isn't that great on her, and the Monroe just looks strange on her. I wouldn't want to tell her that though and hurt her feelings.
I didn't end up getting new piercings this weekend b/c previously mentioned friend got too excited and got her piercing without me. Hmph. So I'm going to wait and have either another friend or my husband go with me. I'm debating about whether to get my eyebrow done or cartilage piercings. I've already got my nose done and love it, plus four earrings. I know the eyebrow is so overdone, and I'm not sure if it would look right on me - but I'll ask the piercer.

I'd like an eyebrow piercing, but it'd be pointless for me, seeing as my hair would it. Anyway, as that was off topic,
I think I remember that when my brother got his eyebrow pierced, he just cleaned it with the contact stuff with, like, a paper towel.
Though my brother only got that piercing whilst going through a phase and took it out a couple months later. So, seeing as he wasn't really even that commited to it, I'm guessing a paper towel really isn't proper..

Dettol antiseptic is NOT for cleaning your piercings with! It's for cleaning dirty wounds (like a fresh graze that still has dirt in it) and for disinfecting surfaces like tables etc. If salt water hurt, you used too much salt. You're only supposed to use 1/4 of a teaspoon of salt dissolved in a mug of water.

What my piercers always tell me to do is wash the piercing (at least once) about twice a day with plain Dial liquid hand soap (it's antibacterial and all the happy horseshit) and do a sea salt soak once a day (and to cut back if it's getting dried out or irritated).

I did that with my navel (top and bottom) and my nape. I'm still going strong on all 3.

Sea salt solution is all you need, seriously. Anything else can just end up complicating things. The only reason soap or antiseptics would be useful would be if the piercing's infected or gets dirty.

Exactly. You don't need to "wash" it everyday. Many piercers say that, and it's wrong. Soap will dry out your skin and irritate it.
